Not sure about Market Rasen - will have to do some research for you. But for Boxing Day & the King George I must say that having just watched the racing from Cheltenham on Channel 4, Marlborough really really impressed me. Tracking the leaders midway down the chasing pack he stormed through to take it by several lengths and he is looking really really good for the King George. 8 years old and carrying 11 stone 11 - he is a real Gold Cup horse in the making.
Incidentally Wandrin' Star - Star Traveller has had a good start to the season. Could be worth an each way chance if he goes to Aintree again.

I should add about Marlborough that he hacked up even though it was thought that he did not go on soft ground. Well soft was a generous definition of the going today and he flew through it. so if the weather continues wet over Christmas that should help to shorten his odds further.
(Blimey i am starting to sound like I know what I am talking about )

I already owe Dunx for this year's bet on Star Traveller but I shall think further about it if I can persuade him to

Yeah - not a winner, as I recall. Had Christina in stiches last night telling her about us all wingeing about how slow and inept the bar staff were in the Tatersalls and then Judith and Susan sneaking the beers out in their coats. Looking forward to it again this year

Poor Dunx - I hope they are paying you vast wedges of overtime or giving you days in lieu!
Well I have just picked up my stories for tomorrow and am pleased to see I picked a winner today!

Ah - back to work....it seems I hardly left
For reasons that may need psychiatric analysis, I went for a jog alomg the strand this morning, at 6am. I am hoping this doesn't become a habit as, although it was a beautiful and soul affirmning thing to do, I now ache everywhere two bones are in contact

Hallo,
What have I missed in the last 5 or 6 days?
I've been ill you see. Actually, still not so pucker - coughing up some really nasty reddish-brown stuff that makes my lungs hurt. I spose I should go and see a doctor.
Anyway, apologies for not participating in the nice conversations you have all been having - I may go home early again today, so please don't take my lack of participation the wrong way - its just that you all smell and I don't want to talk to you

Actually reading back on this, you seem to have missed an awful lot.
So - do you have any tips for Boxing day races at Market Rasen?

OK - do you have any idea what I was doing jogging along Sandymount Strand at 6.00am this morning? (Other than untold damage to my sanity/knees )

Into the office by 12.50? Nice
Is there any significance to be drawn from the fact that the H2g2 telephone number (20 7543 1700) on a standard UK phone dial with the letters comes out as C0R-KID-1-P00 ?

Methinks this jogging lark was all part of a misguided attempt to get fit. Give it up, get a taxi next time

Yes remember that if you don't get fit you are more likely to have to pay the good Doctor's exorbitant consultant's fees in 10 years time
