But for Boxing Day & the King George I must say that having just watched the racing from Cheltenham on Channel 4, Marlborough really really impressed me. Tracking the leaders midway down the chasing pack he stormed through to take it by several lengths and he is looking really really good for the King George. 8 years old and carrying 11 stone 11 - he is a real Gold Cup horse in the making.

Incidentally Wandrin' Star - Star Traveller has had a good start to the season. Could be worth an each way chance if he goes to Aintree again.

I should add about Marlborough that he hacked up even though it was thought that he did not go on soft ground. Well soft was a generous definition of the going today and he flew through it. so if the weather continues wet over Christmas that should help to shorten his odds further.
