Because they aren't making the bazillions she is just now, and their characters aren't plastered on battery packaging and everything else, either. And I could've written HP. Writing like King and others living today would be a stretch....
Bleh...
Hi Kingy!!!

Well, if you could have written it, why didn't you do it?
Hey, here's an idea! You hurry to write book 6 and 7?

Then I'd have to read the first five!!! BLEH!!!
I didn't write HP because it wasn't mine to write, but I could have....

That's uncommon kind of you, Otox
And Dragonfly, you couldn't write like me, you'd have to read it first! Oh, wait, you didn't mean me...

Dragonfly, just wait for a few years until the HP hype has died down, think of an amazing storyline, write the book and sell that for thousands.
If I could actually write a book I'd do that...

I don't particularily want to see the HP movie...it'll ruin the books good and proper, methinks.
LoTR, on the other hand...well...there's no way those books could be ruined - and I saw a preview for it the other day...WOW. Astoundingly amazing. I can't wait.

I don't want to see the HP movie, 'cause I don't want to.
I want to see LotR, and am half-considering flying to the UK so that I can see it 16 days before it's released over here

Cafram... are you insulting the Lord of the Rings by saying the book can't be ruined!?? Is it that bad?!??

i don't feel that the potter movie ruined the books at all. and tho i haven't read lotr yet (it's on my list of things to do and books to read ) it seems that somehow a movie just shouldn't be able to do it justice. i guess we'll have to wait and see.

I have to say that watching the hp movie at least got the accents down properly in my mind!
tLotR could in no way measure up to the grand visions in my imagination. Of course, this won't keep me from seeing the movie repeatedly ...
