I'm off work for a couple of bank holidays, so off h2g2 as well.

If anyone wants me, I'll be in my back garden reading and sunbathing... smiley - biggrin

Unscathed in Sierra Leone

So I was listening to radio 4 this morning. Guy was talking to an interviewer about his new book and his time in Sierra Leone.

Child soldiers. Average age 12-13. Youngest he saw was a kid just five years old, off to man his daily checkpoint. The local warlords controlled them with various drugs, including cannabis, a cocaine variant, and a drug that was tapped. Some of these kids would reply with different names on different days of the week - such was their druggedness and general state of mind. And they all had ranks, and were very proud of their ranks.

What a world we live in... smiley - blue

Reality

Water balloons have a more realistic feel and movement, but generate realistic backache too. So is it ok to sacrifice authenticity to avoid pain? Oh, the complications...

Holiday...

... I'm sorry, but there's nobody available to take your call right now. Please hold, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. Probably around 2nd April.

Your call is so important to us that we've gone off snowboarding in Austria. Our service to you will be foremost in our mind as we swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, crumple, down the Alps.

S'long, suckers!

A Western Bias...

I wonder sometimes, just how global this supposed guide to life, *the universe*, and everything really is. Seems sometimes to be far too biased towards the west. Inevitable, I guess, given where most of us come from, but something we should perhaps work against?

For example, there are 139 Editied entries which mention Christians or Christianity. And only 31 which mention Muslims or Islam. Is this right?
