Bob,
What, no halibut!? Well, no tri-tip and nacho salad, either!
Hmmm...There's a virtual campfire around here somewhere....
But yeah, another time, another clime, perhaps. Next summer I should be in a stronger position anyway.

I've heard of tri-tips, but haven't seen them around here. What exactly are they? I know they are a steak of some kind.........
Bet they would make good beef stroganoff!!
We're having catfish and shrimp for supper.

tri-tips?
I could do with some (tri)-tips for surviving life on the road with the madness and mystery of my ancestors ..
what? oh yes .. a curious road indeed .. I am writing almost-poetic notes from this road .. notes which I have yet to decipher ... ... as they are currently written backwards in fading pencil and melting orange ...mixed with lime green ... and some kind of cryptic calligraphy .. created under the influence of strong red wine .. which made sense at the time .... ... but now looks like cartoon ants crawling over a melting clock ..
oh to make sense of it all
wonder if you can get vegan tri-tips ... .. soya tri-tips?
what are tri-tips?

Hey Nightrider. Nice to see you. Nice to see everyone.
Desert Goddess, there is a wee possibility that I have found a replacement for my muse. I think I owe you a letter. And I know I owe Phred a letter. Dang. I've been in the doldrums and haven't kept in touch with folks the way I should have.
So, for those who might be interested, Xantief and Phred?) there is going to be a meet in Lincoln, NM on Oct. 4. I will be there, as will Lil, of course and a few others. My, ahem, gentleman friend will be coming with me.
And Helen, I'll definitely, positively be spending my 60th birthday in England. We're having a PARTY!!!!! Details are a long way from being worked out. I may request a theme party of some sort. Or not. It's rather pathetic to have to cross an ocean to find someone willing to spend your birthday with you, isn't it? But what is, is. And fortunately my UK friends like parties.

Felicitations, Hypatia!
Oct 4, Lincoln NM.
I can't think of any reason to miss this one. I wonder if I can make it in one session...I guess it depends on whether I rent another freeway schooner, or use my commute beater. (no cruise control)
Perhaps we could use the Lincoln jail for our festivities.

hah! and a splendid June to you also, sir brother ... ....
and thankyou for unfolding the mystery of the tri-tip ... and do I drool even though I am made of leaf? ...
what? ...
Hyp luvvy!!! .. ... I was just headin' round behind the bush with a couple of s for a chatter and a natter ... and now you emerge to greet us ... marvellous to hear from you .... and I do need full details of the Muse, the Man, ...the Mystery, the NM Meet, (grrrr .. we want to be there ... ) the 60th birthday in England??? yay!!! and all such things ..
.. but no pressure to write, of course .... we will always have telepathy ...
...
I'll emerge from my delicate dusty derangement .. and write to you also .. I haven't been around much of late, either ... been mostly on the road to Sussex ..where various family matters are all attempting to leap over the edge at the same time ... like a bunch of eager lemmings, heading for the CafeChaos ... ...
hmmm .. wait in line, lemmings, please ... cor honestly ..
oh yay ...
speak soon
moi the almost-goddess

I'll tell Lil you're coming. She will be pleased. Yay! And suggest the jail.
We're going from here to San Antonio for a few days then back to Dallas for a convention on the 26-28th. Then we'll head west to the Grand Canyon and double back to Lincoln to be there on the 4th. If the weather is good, we'll go to Santa Fe and Chaco on the way home. Road Trip!!!!!

Hey Cactus Cafe/Cantina/Bordello/Whatever. Sorry the personal stuff is getting more time consuming. Hope it all settles down soon.
About the muse...I always thought they were female. Well, this very nice fellow appeared with quite nice attributes, er qualifications, and applied for the position. I was gobsmacked. I asked him several times if he was a bona fide Muse and he insisted that he was. So I'm giving him a trial period to see if it works out. He does a fair job with prose but is a bit weak on poetry. The good news is that he gives a better foot rub than my old Muse did. I got a little nervous when he wanted to suck my toes, but I'm getting used to it. I won't worry unless he asks to wear my corset and garters.

A body does need a Muse. It's dashed difficult to hang out with this crowd without one.
The best idea so far for my theme party is a bdsm theme.
Good Reasons to Get Out of Dodge
cactuscafe Posted Jun 4, 2008
erm .... what's bdsm??
I am as naive as a new born daisy ...
....
bdsm ... bdsm ..... what?? I don't suppose the House Rules will permit any further enlightenment on this matter ..... hmmm ...
(heads off to consider the daisies ...)
.....
... that if that ain't the start of a novel! .... you do this ... with your winning first sentences ..

Glad to see someone stirred the campfire. I've missed the tales from here.
Tri-tips would indeed make good stroganoff! I can think of several ways to use them--Beef and Guinness, anyone?
We'll be meeting Hyp's muse the 14th. I *will* give you all the skinny on him.

Desert Goddess, bdsm, bondage & discipline/sadomasochism. leather, latex, whips and chains, floggers, leather corsets, thigh-high boots, nothing Leo has any business hearing about.

Lincoln, NM...the entire town is a national monument. It is Billy the Kid territory. It's one claim to fame. Geographically it is high desert with magnificent mountain peaks in the distance.
