No rain today - whoopee! - so I celebrated by doing what I'd been planning on since Halloween. Dispatching this years pumpkins with FIRE.

Not really. the kids loved 'em. I got some cool photos and they were currently resident to at least 7 different kinds of mould and fungus.
Tomorrow - they shall be chopped up and composted.

They'd been living in the shed for a week and had a layer of spray-on varnish applied.
When I opened 'em up for the petrol - they had clumps of black mould all round the inside.
All the cloves and cinnamon in the world could not render these pumpkins edible.

I'm resigned to it - they rot, it is the way of things, the joy is temporary.
Embalming them in clear varnish helped prolong them.
