HA! You're talkn' to the "Queen of Laughter"! I've done many seminars,
and emceed various events, with thousands of people present...never using a script...& had EVERYONE falling over laughing I actually was thrown out of a hospital ER instead of crying-I was cutting jokes!
The Dr. said that if I was REALLY in THAT much pain, I'd be screaming! All I did was ask for some burbon in my I.V. Then my sister called our Uncle-a Dr. at a different hospital...when I got there I was VERY close to death! Sheesh...mind over matter...if you don't mind
then it don't matter Keep smiling TL It relaxes the smooth muscles

Hey Pandora! Sounds like you have a very interesting family background!
Here's all I know about mine:
On my mother's side, her parents lived in England all their lives, but her mum (my grandmother) came from a very rich family. My mum's grandparents came from Poland. On my father's side, I'm not so sure, but I know that my dad was from his father's second wife, and he was from Russia. That's about it! Otherwise I've been in England all my life, and either love it or hate it! I'd rather be in a hotter country.....
Sorry to hear about your muscle disease BTW!
This is my story:
I was born on 20th January 1986, making me 14 and a half years old. I have 2 brothers, Shim (aged 27) and Jack (aged 25 years), and one sister, Miriam (aged 33 years). My grandad (on my mum's side) dies when I was 11 months and my grandmother when I was 4. My other set of grandparents died before my parents were even married I've lead a pretty boring life really. I can play the guitar and keyboard. I love surfing the net. Recently a friend of mine has asked me to join her band, Urban Grafitti, which I have accepted, even though my mum isn't too keen. That's mainly me, there ya go!

Pandora, so sorry - I hadn't realised how much time a daughter can take up (including the computer - her's is over at my mum until Liz collects it, so she's been using mine!)
I'm away from next Saturday (today is Monday 11.25pm) until 5th Aug & have no way of getting on line!!! So it'll be a long wait & alot of reading! Looks like Katsy will keep you busy while I'm off to the stormy coast, although hopefully the wretched weather will change!!!
I've posted to "Alcohol" & "Science is crap" already tonight.
Liz brought her two gerbils home - they're black & both boys, but she keeps putting plastic tunnels in with them & as they chew them to pieces the racket is tremendous!! When she goes on hol in September, I'll just give them the usual toilet roll inners!!
L is a little depressed at present (R can't see why as all he can see is a great life ahead of her, but we girls always have problems don't we?). She reckons that passing exams & a possible great future is one thing, but that friendships & how people see you & how you feel about yourself is another. I reckon she is quite right. She still has a stutter & this is still worrying her & getting her down, espec. when she knows she will have to give speeches, etc. I keep trying to tell her that as she gets older & feels confident about her subject & herself that the stutter will fade & she will learn to control it easier. This does not impress at present. She has a few other "health" problems that need sorting out, but I think if she would just give herself time to rest they would fade also.
At her age of 22 I can no longer "tell" her what to do, but just advise - sometimes she takes this the wrong way!! Gosh, at her age I had just given birth to her!! Did I feel like this too? I can't remember - I can remember feeling that I didn't fit in with anyone, but Ihave sort of sorted that!!
Hey ho, the life of a mum - Katsy take note & be easy on yours!!!
Sorry not be more cheerful - probs, probs!!
We had a "family" meal today: mum, my brother, his wife & 26 year old son, Rrrr, myself & .... who else, hmmmmm, oh yes, Liz!!
All went well, Rrrrr got his video thingy out again- we'll try to put it all together on one tape - should be interesting ?
Is that green stuff some sort of algae? Must be after all your sunshine - hope it clears so that little girl can go in. Pandora, are you able to go in & splash about? Ooooh, envy!
Nighty nighty to you & Bear
Love

I think there may be more - TL can you help?
How much wood can a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood
As much wood as a woodchuck could chuck
if a woodchuck would chuck wood.
Have fun

SHIRPS...I KNOW YOU'LL BE GONE FOR AWHILE BUT I WANTED YOU TO SEE THIS POST...the answer to Liz's stutter lies in hypnosis...please trust me on this!!! I wish I were there to 'cure her up' it's one of the easist
things to 'fix'!!! And ALL GOOD therapists go through various types of therapy themselves to 'see' how it feels on the other side of the couch-as it were Have a wonderful holiday!!! Paint the sea for me!

I seem to remember a cure for stttuuutttrring(sorry couldn't stop my self)was to sing the words as most people don't stutter when singing and when you stop this and say it still helps as you have said the words without stuttering.
P.S.at 22 you can still tell her what to do she just will not do it.

Are you speaking to me? Shirps has gone to the seashore until the 5th of Aug. When I tried to go to the thread you posted it came up: entry not implemented. I then tried to trace the writer of the peom
(which I'm dying to read) but was unable to find anything.
I decided just today to start writing poetry again. I haven't decided if I'm going to post it on h2g2. To me, that's REALLY exposing myself!!!

Katsy i have often said may you live as long as you want but never want as long as you live, but killing your self is something that should never be joked about and only done after all other options have failed.

Not quite gone yet, but this may be the last posting for the duration. Thanks both for the ssstuttering help - I too stutter & have done since childhood, like Liz, it gets worse if I am with someone if feel "threatened by" (I think I mean intellectually - Liz is the same), but also when we get over-tired, run-down, stressed, etc. I have never learned to completely control it, but it doesn't worry me anymore, however Liz is at (& has been for quite a while) where it REALLY worries her. I reckon hypnosis is the only thing we haven't yet tried - when i return from hols, I'll look into it for her - thanks a bunch.
I'll have a go at the sea (maybe I'll try pastels this time - room for lots of errors!!). Mind you I'm no artist, only a beginner & haven't done any for about 6 years now - "good at giving advice to others, never take it myself" - my catchphrase!
Who is this person who would leave you face down Pandora? Shame on him/her - must be a him!! Just tell him what I think of him - you can use your own words - ha!
Katsy really alarms me!! Please don't scare me again & keep smiling.
TL- I'll look up the poetry on return- no time now- great sorrow
By the by: when you meet a stutterer, just realise that there goes a person of great intelligence, not some sort of dimwit as most teachers & TV people think of them!! When we're in the right mood, Liz & I laugh at the jokes, etc., me more so now - so carry on in a gentle way
Pan - read about you and Alicat's locations - very handy - Ooooooh wish I was closer, what about mid Atlantic??
Cheerio All - be good while I'm away, & if you can't, then be careful.

BYE-BYE SHIRPS...WE'LL MISS YOU...WE LOVE YOU!!!
Katsy you (really) "should" have said 'kicking' yourself...careful what you say around her Dear, everyone seems to care for eachother in a powerful way! I can't count the times I've been made to eat crow! Now if the poem I wrote is posted...I'm likely to catch it from somebody who'll inturpet what I wrote as sounding suicidal! Ekk!!! It's called: How I 'Really' Feel About My Muscle Disease. I plan to let nature take it's course...everyone may as well know-I have lung disease also. My left lung has a nice black spot of cancer. So when I drop dead...which with MY family genes, should take a good long time,
I don't want everyone to be shocked! I'll be sure to have someone E everyone...that'll include h2g2. (If I don't get myself thrown outta' here 1st Hey as wild as all we Hikers are...bet I'd get one heck of a wake Party On...

OK, 1st, I didn't leave ANYONE face down lying passed out, I always watch over the drunken departed. And 2nd, my view of suicide:
I have contemplated suicide quite a few times myself. Although I am exceptionally bright("very bright, but refuses to apply himself.", said the teacher.), I have had many failures in my 'adult' life. So when I was down and out I thought about suicide, but then I reasoned, "What if this is it, if there is no 'afterlife'? I'd be throwing EVERYTHING I ever had, and everything I ever could have, away!!!" One of the things that always keeps me alive is the wonder of what may happen. Things get worse, things improve. We are certainly masters of our own fate, but there are many obstacles in the path we would choose. SOMETHING is always going to happen, and, however bad, or good, we have to deal with it, unless we want to give it all up and cop out by taking our own life. So what's the point? Don't throw away your life, because it's all you REALLY have.
ok, end of rant. (sorry, I'm a little high and thoughtful)

That's why we love you It's very normal to think about suicide, it's just not a wise choice! I am a 'no code'...that is to say, if my heart stops-or whatever then I'm outta' here. I pulled the plug on my mom...it's what she wanted-made it clear repeatedly. So, there was no guilt involved! My wishes are widely known also, and I know this Village will be a party town for days whenI kick the bucket! Lots of people really love me & REALLY know me And my Mother-in-Law, who knows all about...well almost, all about my party habits will E everyone so everyone will know what's up. It's ALL about life
