Once again .....sigh

It's the same old me - wiser, perhaps more forgetful .
Stamps my foot.
No, MUCH more forgetful. !

Have been a member of this site for yoicks, but have had to re-register several times as I appear to keep striking the wrong key and oops - off I fly into the ether, taking my friends, all my precious information and my membership off the hootoo scene.

Anyway, for those old friends, and for those new friends, I do not think I have changed. It is much more difficult for me to get around - I am definitely NOT upwardly mobile nor vertically, come to think of it, except when I am in my adult perambulator!!.

However, I am still enthusiastic, and I suppose determined to make, the third part of my long life enjoyable, happy and meaningful.

Bare essentials - ins'nt there a song like that?
Date of Birth 23rd May 1928. which makes me nearly eighty years old.

Moving to the coast where my lungs can hopefully stay inflated long enough to enable to finish the writing that I am currently engaged on. If there is extra time Hoorah!

I now have five great grandchildren, five children, and personally have been married - well - a few times.

Went to University at sixteen. Failed miserably. Trained as a Radiogrpaher not that long after Marie Curie was the first one to show that one could take a "photograph" of a bone, if one had a particular sort of coating on a glass screen.

Trained for three years to represent South Africa at the 1948 Olympic Games in Backtroke. Sadly no women's team was sent. This was the biggest disappointment in my life I believe. It has given me the strength to take set backS, with my head held high and a determination to try and succeed.

All the rest of my life is pretty dull and boring,

Taught swimming for 21 years in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe

Presented the first gardening programme on Rhdesia TV - a weekly slot of, I seem to remember ,five minutes - That was exciting and thrilling.

Learnt to play bridge and absolutely loved duplicate. But that went out the window when my favourite husband did not like bridge.!! and I preferred him to bridge - naturellement.

I did go back to University when I was 44 and found myself in the curious position of having my second son as my tutor. What a wonderufl guy he is.

Studied Phenomenology at one of the Universities and eventually did my social research in South AFrica from a phenomenological approach. In those days it was described as being "merely descriptive - not prescriptvie". Fortunately attitudes have changed, and this has invigorated me and I have - believe it or not - been commissioned to write about it!.

So hold thumbs, all my dear friends. for an Old Lady who is hoping to have the time to "describe" her life and not "prescribe" anything.

So fare thee well, , eat, drink and make merry.....
and I have a secret wish

To swim in the 2012 Olympic Games as a graceful young 20 year old, and become the backstroke Champion of the world. ...

Ah well, I hope I shall be able to watch it on Telly!
