Here we go again! heading for a wipeout

for about 2 week, my office 2007 (in WORD mainly) has been acting up weird, after taking it out twice and various problem solving quests. It's still not rait, so Tuesday A.M. I've one more thing to try and if that doesn't work, then it's a total wipe of my XP and reinstall

Well! here we go again 3 weeks ago, ST installed windows 7 pro on my pcand after a bit of getting used to the new settings and putting my stuff back on and rearranging to hopefully get it to how I like it - NOT deep twiddling
Last Tuesday I was here in hootoo and had a play list on, via windows media player - all okWednesday night, clicks wmp on and ARGH! all me play lists have gone ? NOW if I click "make a play list" it puts a box up saying NO CAN DO looking on the web and this problem has a lot of websites including microsofts - so far I haven't found a answer or fix that works

It's GOT to be me ain't itbloody computers

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:
Step 1.
Uninstalling the Windows Media Player:
1. Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
2. Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the mark in front of Windows Media Player.
4. Restart the computer

Step 2.
Reinstalling the Windows Media Player:
1. Go to Start and in the search type "Turn Windows features On or Off".
2. Click on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
3. Browse to the Media Features and place a check mark in front of Windows Media Player.
4. Restart the Computer.

Fixed the ___ Issue!! believe it or not it was this easy!! (only if you have this folder). When you create your default folder which you use as you media library eg, Music or public music (where all your songs are located) you should see a folder called "My Playlist" where your playlists are created. If you also see a folder called "playlists" in the music folder DELETE IT!!! seems to conflict with "my playlists" and wat ya know you can create a playlist!! check your facts microsoft instead of telling people to reinstalling!! hope this helps!!

- Go to Start, type services.msc in the Search field, and press Enter. In Services, find the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is Started , double-click the service and click Stop .
- Go to Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the Search field, and press Enter. This folder will open up in Windows Explorer.
- In this folder, rename the Media Player folder to something like Media Player old . If you can't see the folder, then it's probably hidden. Set Explorer to show hidden files and folders, and to show protected system files.
- Start WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the issue still occurs.

and I thought that the "European lot" told microsoft to stop making WMP part of the windows operating system/sand not a stand alone program ? oh well!

run - command prompt - sfc/scannow... That didn't find anything wrong

I'm on W7 64 bit and mine does the same, prof. But if I go "music" at the bottom of the list, everything is there. So it seems that it just deletes the playlist and the library after a while. It's a bit of a pain but at least you shouldn't have lost your stash.

Sis-in-law had a similar problem with W8 and W8.1, it deleted all her e-mails, contacts, even those stored in files within the email system. It seems that this is what the modern systems do UNLESS YOU STOP THEM!
I helped her to find the way, but I haven't a clue about WMP. Might be an idea to go back to Real player (if it's still available) or one of the others.
