Things that bug me....... (here comes a rant!!!)

I'm just another number. I am currently at Durham university (Aidan's college if you really must know). I'm studying archaeology and I am now in my 2nd year.
I have an announcementt to make:
IT IS NOT THE NEW MILLENNIUM! IT IS NOT A NEW CENTURY!!! IT IS NOT A NEW DECADE!!!!
I am fed up of the gross stupidity that appears to be going around at the moment. Have people forgotten how to count????? I am thinking of doing an entry on this subject so as to finally get it through to people.
It is quite simple, all you have to do is count:
there are 10 years in a decade, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
Therefore a new decade has to start with one ie. 1, 11, 21 etc. This is because there is/was no year 0.
A century has 100 years in, 10 decades. It starts with 1 and ends with 100. 1901 to 2001.
A millennium has 1000 years in, 10 centuries, 100 decades. Simple. It starts with 1 and ends with 1000. 1001-2001
Not complicated. Why then are so many people having trouble with this one????
Right.... that's that, I want to hear no more of this stupidity.
