Interesting..... Will society drown in its own stupidity? (or the drool of the stupid???). Could this lead to a cultural elite of intellectuals who have extreme right wing views and who purge society of stupidity?? Intelligence tests before allowing couples to breed? Regular mental health checks to weed out the senile and the stupid who slipped through the net?? Genetic/ intellectual purity as a species? Persecution of the thick??? Extreme and most likely unworkable..... who would clean the toilets? It would how ever rid the world of sport over night...... hummmmmm........

Well, at least the present does seem to be populated with quite a few who don't feel the need to strain themselves. H2G2 can in some ways be used as an example. People who are supposedly fans of an extremely cynical, somewhat offensive, and clearly eloquent writer seem to be satisfied with idle gossip, chats about the weather and the exchange of homemaking tips rather than the expression of social commentary or criticism.

Although your essay is clearly offensive to many people, it at least signifies that you are thinking for yourself and going to the trouble to express your thoughts. If more H2G2 members would do this the general conversation would be much more stimulating.
