I believe one has to take it in turns to knock one's ball through the hoops in order, before hitting the pole at the centre. The first party to do so is the winner, Ma'am.

*Grabs a mallet and gives a heafty swing only to loose grip of the mallet which flies off and hits Menza on the back*

One would have to say...er...No. Not at the moment.
*takes own mallet and hits a ball through the first hoop, managing to knock Coelacanth/Menza's ball under a bush*
Remember you have to play your ball from where it ends up.

You seem suspiciously good at this. Have you played before? (I have, but it was about 2am after summer ball many years ago and I don't think there were any rules).
*sends Menza off to hit the ball and pours more Bolly instead*

Indeed I have! Actually I have also playyed carpet crocket, which is excellent fun!

*Menza hits the ball with great skill. It rolls out of the bushes, along the lawn and straight through the second hoop.
Then it hits a stone, flies up in the air and lands in the fountain*

*kneels down on the lawn and uses the shaft of the mallet as a snooker cue to pot the ball through the hoop*

~Greebo's back paw accidently blocks the hoops... causing EV's ball to rebound and hit him in the face... ~snigger~

*Hit ball out of fountain, soaking Greebo in the process*
