A Conversation for The world's favourite watering holes
Shrewsbury - where's that
Megan Started conversation Dec 17, 1999
I save my pub crawling for England and a certain town in Shropshire called Shrewsbury. Tudor, cobblestones and a the River Severn encircling this bit of ol' English history. William the Conqueror landed and stayed for a bit; the Romans loved it and some of their buildings & settlements are still standing. My favorite is housed in a building dating almost to that time, but not quite. The Grove. So funky, so laid back, and downright raunchy it's comfortable, warm (good to know in the winter). Memorabilia garnish the walls... trains and old singer sewing machines. The usual dartboard and snooker table and a I-have-elbow-my-way-to-the-bar kind of place. Small enough to meet almost anyone in there at any time of day. Dave, who owns it, makes a beer stew in a galley behind the scenes and offer a sample. If you get that far on your next pub crawl, say hello to Ric, Dave, Julie, Keith and almost anyone who knows the blonde from California.

In addition to the listed features there is the "best" football club in the country. Not because of the quality of the football or the comfort of the stadium, but come more than 4 times to see us struggle and you will fall in love.
