Federally, 10 of those 11 are national holidays. And only 3 of the lot originated from 'religious' significance.

Except for Arbor Day and earth Day, which are not celebrated in all countries, there isn't much to celebrate the bounty of plants that account for 95% of all biomass on this planet. I propose Daffodil Day (April 15), Rose Day (June 1), Daisy Day (June 15), and Aster Day (August 15). For those plants that feed us, we could have Planting Day in late April. The harvest festivals are already spoken for: Halloween (which really is intended to honor and , Thanksgiving, and to some extent Christmas.

I've noticed that the garden sops around here have a lot of unsold Easter lilies. I bought three of them today, for four dollars apiece. They can survive okay outside once the danger of frost is past, which will likely be the day after tomorrow.
