Notable Fictional Characters

I've heard of most of the characters in post 18, but I have no idea who these ones are:

Billy Bunter
William Brown
Capt. James Bigglesworth
Dan Dare
Jet Morgan
Prof Bernard Quatermass
Sir Harry Paget Flashman

Is there any way to connect them with titles or authors so that I can get some idea of context?

They are all characters in British fiction books, most can be found via google in Wikipedia directly. which will give much more info than I would ever wish to write.

William Brown, who might be hard to find that way due to his common name, is the subject of the Just William series by Richmal Crompton.

Captain Bigglesworth is presumably Biggles, oh how we loved Biggles books in the 50's, Cap't WE Johns wrote the books, post-war air pilot up to all kinds of jingoistic derring-do. Jet Morgan was of Journey into Space fame, a radio programme which kept us all in thrall in the 50's, Dan Dare from the Eagle comic, another space explorer, fronted the Eagle for many years. You can still hear Journey into Space on 4 extra occasionally, it stands up surprisingly well. Nancy, tragic victim of Bill Sykes in Oliver Twist, surely the most tragically heroic literary lady of all time.
