I have soooooo much telly to catch up on, including a *lot* of Breaking Bad episodes. I need a holiday just to clear the contents of the Sky box!

I've really enjoyed the last two episodes. Even the Terry stuff (it gives me an opportunity to get a drink/snack). Hoping the stuff with Lafayette gets better though, he's not blowing me away at the moment.
As ever, my heart belongs to Pam. Last week was a classic:
Tara: "So I'm basically your slave?"
Pam, totally disinterested: "Pretty much"

Agreed, it was superb.
I'm really loving the stuff between Pam and Tara, they work so well together and their emerging mother/daughter vibe is messed up but cool at the same time. It also fits in with the (much hotter) father/son relationship vibe between Godric and Eric. Though if they've got Allen Hyde back I'd rather see him in the flesh via flashbacks.
The vampire stuff was pretty fun - Reb Newlin instantly hitting on Russell Edgington was good for a laugh. It doesn't bode well for Jessica though: it looks like she's now got two sets of enemies coming for her - Newlin and Russell and the hate group.
Speaking of, hats off to True Blood for making a hate group so hilarious: for the first time all series Pam didn't get the line of the episode. "Hate groups are also about love" - it takes a warped mind to come up with that.
And the Terry/Ifrit/Scott Foley storyline continues to be boring, though if Holly gets involved I might get interested. I like Holly even if she scared me at first (her head is just unsettling).

Well that was interesting huh?
So has Bill gone bad ass? Personally I am taking his about turn with a pinch of salt. All the nobility that has come before from him seems to have droppped just a little too easily, and the fact that they have teased the way he changed from being a blood thirsty vamp to the Bill we know involved Eric but haven't yet shown it leads me to suspect there is more to run on this.
Ultimately I think we have seen that Eric whilst he probably doesn't have an actual deathwish is kinda prepared for death (how he tried to kill Russ in the sun, and again when Bill had to threaten him earlier in this series again with Russ) whereas Bill clearly values his own skin. I suspect Bill is playing the "long game".
I have to say I am increasingly worried about the long term prospects of Mr Northman mind, got a horrible suspcion he aint gonna come out of this. Hope not as along with Jason is one of the more consistently entertaining charaters.
I also think an interesting sub plot here is the growing tension between Salome and Russ, I mean despite his protestations of being "born again" he seems very much still Russ. The scene in the meeting was telling, he isn't talking like someone who wants to change the world that much, seems a bit more like it is his playground as it is... watch this space huh?
I also thought that the merging of the Terry/Lay storyline makes sense, neither was very interesting but perhaps there might be some legs if they put them together. Who knows...

Speaking to a few fellow True Blood fans at work who also understand how the internet works and the general consensus is we are all pretty worried about Eric.
They wouldn'y "go there" surely? Though I understand it is a different team doing the show running for the next series so could be all change.

I really hope they don't get rid of Eric, that all this foreshadowing is just a red herring so that we're all shocked when its Bill that takes the wooden bullet. I have to say I am worried though, it's the spinning off of Pam and Tara that makes me think Eric's day is done the most.
If nothing else, the departure of Eric would mean the focus of the show would shift back to Bill and Sookie and I just don't care about them two as a couple.
Apart from the vampire storyline (and the Terry storyline, which I'm still not interested in) this episode seemed to be more in a holding pattern. I enjoyed Lafayette, especially his scene with Jesus, and he does possessions well.

Bill's line to Eric was brilliantly ambiguous: is he genuinely playing the long game and protecting Eric from doing something stupid (which kidnapping Nora surely was) or has he gone fully over to the darkside? I really hope Molly survives, I like Molly.
Also glad the Terry storyline has come to an end - what was the point of that? But it was cool to see Arlene be badass. The Obamas/shifter storyline wrapped up well and it leaves Luna and Sam to go after Steve and Russell. It'll give Sam a chance to fight someone else naked (seriously, does he use his member as his main weapon? He's always fighting naked).

Obviously the pattern of True Blood over the seasons is that the penultimate episode is the biggee, and the one before that (last nights) tends to be a bit quieter whilst they line the ducks up.
All the same there was I thought lots to enjoy.
Firstly no way jose has Eric been turned, watch how he needles away at Russ, he knows exactly what he was doing and was obviously trying to provoke exactly that reaction. Presumably to crack open the Vamp authority but also, perhaps, to give Bill some food for thought. I suspect from the look Bill gave Eric right at the end he had managed to do just that.
Alarmingly though I no longer think Bill is playing the long game, it really looks like he was taken in.... blimey.
Pam and Tera stuff was ace again.
But talk about episode stealing from Jason, whoda thunk Vinny from home and away would have such acting range eh?

I must say I'll be gutted when it finishes. Hope Boardwalk Empire can fill the True Blood gap as well as True Blood filled the Thrones gap!

Oh and I love how Russell's accent slips when his heckles are up and he starts sounding Eastern European.

Oh and thinking about it why was the contract for specifically a female fey Stackhouse heir?
Obviously Sookie and Jason's grandad was also Fey. Surely if it was just about the Fey blood then any would do, I think there must be a little more to this contract and Waldo than is being let on.
Hmmm.....

Hello, yes! I'm here
I suspect it was deliberate that Russell's accent went a bit Eastern European when he went nuts and I hope that wee Freudian slip is explained next week I think Eric also has something up his sleeve and look forward to him unleashing hell, which I'm pretty positive he's going to do. Have we really seen the last of Godric though? That bit with him and Lilith was really odd
I also think there's a bit more to this Waldo contract and am quite enjoying the storyline there. Sookie's taken too much of a back seat in this series so far so I hope she gets some action soon.

Well I guess the only thing to say is "Oh Bill!"
Funny isnt it that they had set up the "nest" thing all the way back in the first series. I had totally forgotten about it but they did clearly signpost this when Bill was explaining to Sookie about that gang that got burnt out.
All building to a nice conclusion and it will be good to find out who Warlow is. Presumably he is going to have some role in the finale. Surely?
Anyhoodly I cannae wait!

HonestIago Posted Aug 22, 2012
I'm assuming Warlow is going to be the Big Bad next series, along with the Andy/fairy pregnancy storyline. I was hoping that once they wrapped up most of the secondary plotlines (which they did extremely well - Hoyt's departure in particular got to me) we wouldn't see much more of the background characters. Makes sense for Sam and Luna to still be about and Jason has been amazing this series so more of him is appreciated but the others need to go away for the last episode
Glad to see Eric escape and Nora come good. I'm assuming Eric is going to need a new playmate since his bromance with Bill is surely done and Pam seems to be off with Tara. Love Pam in the Authority: that has major potential - she has been consistently badass this series. Making Tara a vampire is the best thing to ever happen to the character and her and Pam have been my highlight of the series (well, them and Jason just behind the door).
They've set up a threeway war between the vampires, fairies and humans: I hope they follow through and do a (Game of Thrones) Blackwater-type episode.

I'm loving the return of Russell in particular; now there's a proper love-to-hate villain! His relationship with Steve Newlin is also well played out. The scenes between the vampires and the fey was a fantastic piece of work by all involved.
