I don’t know where all the squirrels have gone but I have tonight resolved a mysterysmiley - huh.
Wesmiley - hug have asmiley - catcalled Splodge, she quite lucky, she has her own chalet type cat house attached to the front of our house.
I built it last year for her, after my girlfriend did not won’t Splodge to spend another wintersmiley - brr outdoors.
Splodge is half feral and does not like to come into the house, she partial to the odd smiley - tickle under the chin when we are enjoying a late evening drinksmiley - stiffdrink on the patio.
My girlfriend asked that splodges house should be off the floor, big enough to house her bedding (which we change weekly) and have a roof extension so that she(thesmiley - cat) can eat her food in the dry should it be raining.
No sooner said than done, built, stained and very much used.
Problem was that Splodgessmiley - cat food bowls were going missingsmiley - doh, as she could not eat all her food in one go, she would return to it later to finish it off, so we left the bowl out over night.
4 missing bowls later, the girlfriendsmiley - hugwas getting concerned thinking that either someone was having a jokesmiley - laugh or something more sinistersmiley - evilgrin might happen. So she had asked if a fence to the front of the house could be erected and CCTV installed if the bowls continued to go missing.
Plans were in the making, when at 1.50am this morning the culprit showed his hand.
I was up in the office as usual (as I’m unable to sleep much due to my back), when I heard the noise of the bowl being dropped on the road to the front of the housesmiley - yikes.
Glaring back up at the office window was a large male dog fox, he proceeded to pick up the half full bowl and waltz off with it down the road.
Mystery solved, we now know who’s taken them but where he has taken them to is anyone’s guesssmiley - laugh

Well its like springsmiley - snowdrop watch around here, got up as usual ,being very domesticated , I usually empty the dishwasher, put some clothes washing into the machine, see to the dry stuff and generally tidy around before going up to the office until the early hourssmiley - yawn of the morning.
Amongst all this I let the smiley - dog out for its midnightsmiley - fullmoon pee.
Whilst doing this I came across quite a large hedgehog on the drive by the garage. I haven’t seen a hedgehog in ages and wesmiley - hug were only on about how long it seemed since wesmiley - hug saw our last onesmiley - smiley.
Well , as against him roaming the expanse of paving for food , I very carefully put it in the back garden where it can feastsmiley - drool on so many slugs that it could burst , not that I want it to do of cause.
smiley - dog wasn’t happy that I had removed his new play thing, but he can play with his squeaking smiley - flyingpig tomorrow when hopefully the hedgehog will be wrapped up somewhere nice and safesmiley - biggrin

...compare their eyes... ...despite their doglike appearance and native American sobriquette,'little dog', like the hyena, foxes actually have more in common with cats than with dogs, a sobriquette like, 'little hyena', would actually be closer to the truth... ...mind you, foxes can be very personable if one treats them right, in their very highly independent way...

I grew up in an area where there are native species of foxes.

Ditto.

Getting eye ball to eyeball with one can be quite a trick.

They usually go through a preliminary phase of exchanging presents... like the ones the cat might provide.

I can just imagine what would be on a fox's menu. Birds' eggs? Small rodents? Some farmer's chickens?

The foxes menu, just about anything you and I can eat eat.

They are very omnivorous and occasionally become a problem raiding vineyards for grapes.

They prefer meat, and if the supply is good, mammalian meat over avian, avian over reptilian.
