Isn't it called 'fiddling whilst Rome burns'?

Well come on, given our culture, is it surprising we turn to theatre?

smiley - huh How come he's always out of the country selling bombs and bullets when an emergency happens?

Wasn't he in the middle east on a similar mission when it all kicked off in Libya?

I'm sure Cameron will survive but I'm just a bit surprised of the
turmoil the police are in with the Met Chief of Police and Deputy
resigning and then the obligatory death of the whistle-blower. It
is being mentioned that it is only Clegg defending Cameron with all
the Tory big wigs keeping silent - perhaps because of their own ties
with the Murdochs.

When the Sun published the Squidgy-tapes in 1992 - hacked telephone
conversation between Princess Diana and James Gilbrey - the
reporters all got pats on the back. So they are just using the same
techniques as those used twenty years ago but for some reason there
is hysteria with the Met Police imploding and the Government rocking:

It seems that the TheSun website has been hacked and is currently off
air. It's a shame because Google picked up the following newstory:

History made as nipple is found on foot | The Sun |News
www.thesun.co.uk/sol/.../History-made-as-nipple-is-found-on-foot.html 18 Jul 2011 – BOFFINS believe case of 22-year-old with third nipple on her foot is one of a kind.

It's pleasing to see the Murdoch brand of journalism still pumping
out erudite newsworthy items ...

Given some of the the revelations about who has been on the Murdoch payroll, is it any wonder that "His death is not being treated as suspicious by police"? smiley - whistle

They keep saying on 5live that the police are treating it as 'unexplained but not suspicious'.

Stupid idiotic use of language.

So who thinks Cameron is finished?

I'm talking the likelihood of him fighting the next General Election.

I say he's finished. The lack of strong leadership from him during this crisis has been truly astounding IMO. And what the hell has he been doing trotting off to Africa during one of the biggest crisis of confidence for people in British structures of Law and democracy.

I just watched the Panorama programme. One of the hacks said, everyone in the main office under Coulson knew it was going on ie hacking...he said even the office cat knew it. I remember a few months ago when Cameron repeatedly said he had full confidence in Coulson. Isn't this a misjudgement of mammoth proportions? Especially as he was apparently warned repeatedly.

Are people going to put up with this Old Etonian twerp steering us through the tough economic times ahead?

Okay I'm a bit florid with my language...but really.

So who thinks he'll be fighting the next election?

Well, Blair told plenty of bare-faced lies during his time in office, and stood successfully for re-election, so my money would be on him standing at the next one.

Well of course he told lies that was well within the Murdoch era. Things have changed.

I'm off to the bookies.

Course the big difference between Blair and Cameron is that Blair was a winner. For all my lot disliked Blair we ended up backing him because he won for us.

A really big proportion of the Tory PP and grassroots blame Cameron for his failure to get over the line and win a majority. Meaning he is more vulnerable, to his own party, than Blair ever was.

True, very true.

I can't believe that the powers that be at the Noose of the World can claim to have been ignorant of the phone-hacking. Even a p1ss poor journalist would be expected to be able to back up a story with some evidence. I know they have to 'protect their sources' but you can't give your editor an exaggerated smiley - winkeye when asked if the source is kosher and expect to be allowed to print, not unless the editor is also in on your little secret.

I think the general British public should also take some responsiblity for buying the rag in the first place. Our thirst for a juicy celeb story fuels this type of journalism. It's all about sensationalism and having the most lurid headline possible.

Theres an audit trail. Parts of which they keep claiming to have lost.

So...are slebrity (super)injunctions justified? That aspect has been on the back burner.

A super injunction is just a very expensive admission of guilt.

I think if celebs want to waste their own time and money on dragging their foibles through court then it just goes to prove they have more time, money and a lot less sense than the rest of society. If the public weren't so interested in which footb'llr has been screwing which Big Brother reject then perhaps there wouldn't be this vicious circle of the tabloid (and some broadsheets and, dare I say the BBC)trying to fuel the public appetite for tittle tattle, and the buying public fuelling the media need to dish whatever dirt they can find by whatever means they can get it.

Just look at the Ryan Giggs debacle- every media outlet was falling over themselves to be the first one to break the story when it was already a non-story thanks to the internet.
