This is getting silly beyond ridiculous.
swl's post was perfectly sound.

You can't call yourself a true hootoo member if you haven't buggered off in a huff and then coming back 3 or 4months later a few times. Most of us have...
Yes I can..and I haven't ever felt the need to bugger off.Nothing on hootoo is worth losing your temper over.

I've been here for 8 years and avoided it. As Ictoan says, nothing worth getting that wound up over. But SoRB's done it a bunch of times, flounced off, proclaiming the site isn't big/smart/free enough for him and he always comes back.
And as for your other bit 3Dots, come on - I know he's your mate and everything and you feel duty bound to protect him - but resorting to brazen lies isn't going to help. How many accounts and names has he had since the original Hoo account? SoRB, Smokehammer, Fred Kite, Twiggster and a bunch more whose names escape me right now (the Fred Kite account went through 3 or 4 different names before settling). SoRB is a habitual sock-puppeter and has used multiple accounts to get around bans: he openly admits it and has been caught doing it (that did for the Smokehammer account didn't it?).
For someone who makes such a ruddy song and dance about how he's a paragon of virtue and intellect and honesty, it's pathetic and hugely hypocritical. That's why Pin's description of him as a hootoo legend was so laughable - to many on here SoRB isn't a legend but a cautionary tale. And he'll be back, this place meets a need in his chronically underdeveloped emotional core which prevents him from staying away too long.

raging against the dying of the light
I'm not...if I knew he regularly used sock-puppets I would not have said anything.
The one thing I do not do on this site is lie.
So, please refrain from calling me a liar.
Thank you.
Hoovooloo...admitted to be him.
SoRB...admitted to be him...blatantly.
Smokehammer..admitted to be him.
Fred Kite...not actually one of his sock puppets I've heard of
Twiggster..admitted to be him....he specifically came back to find out the identity of the picture he shows on his ps.
Hence, 4 out of 5 he's not hidden the fact that it's him. He;s also listed his various short term sock puppets on site at various times.
Put it this way: with his style of 'not taking fools gladly' why the hell does he need to use a sock-puppet?
The only reason he'd want to use one is to be seem on that account as all kind and fluffy which wouldn't do his reputation any good at all...
His best sock-puppet? Steve The Programmer' who stated 'Justin The Preacher' was an AI developed by him.
This is the 'Justin The Preacher' who has actually been banned from Youtube for his video posts and actually had various serious followers...scary...
So...in conclusion please DON'T CALL ME A LIAR.
Thank you.

HI, I can''t believe you thought 'Fred Kite' was SoRB. You also in the past claimed he was 'Voice in the Mirror'
You make him out to be something bigger than he is. We all know about his stonking ego. So does he.
But yeah please don't call 3Dots a liar.

"Who was SoRB?" I also wondered that question because I couldnt understand the devotion some people felt about him. So I went to his PS and did a sort of research. I stopped the research when I came across a conversation where I felt sick, not only because of his words , but also because of the NO reaction of anyone to those words. It seems that everything was allowed to him, because he used to entertain with nasty language a devoted audience. He has linguistic abilities, a left brain who works pretty well but I wouldnt say the same for his right part. He misses the whole picture and lacks imagination, the most he lacks is empathy. Do you think I am being cruel doing this "disection" of him? No, he loves to be under the focus, thats why he flounced, unsub is too vulgar, lacks glamour. He prefers to leave and send his herald to announce to the h2 community the terrible news of his absence... ( Oh dear, who can bear such moderators unable to spot an acrostic!!) but he will come back, surely, once you try the drug of the scene, it is very difficult to quit the show, he is Sorbdiva and will come back to collect his

There are more reasons than anger to "take a break" though. I'm at the point now where I'm just getting a bit tired of it; tired of the circular conversations, tired of some of the people, tired of the petty yikesers and the "safety-first" mods. I'm saddened a little by what I see as a change in the editorial "feel" of the place. An example of that is the QOTD on the front page which shifted from genuinely witty quotes taken from convos all over the site to random Ask question titles. From being a first port of call when logging on each day, QOTD became the same quote left standing for weeks, months. It shows that the Eds really don't give a fig.
I have *monumental* respect for the guys working on the community consortium and they deserve a huge for what they're doing but the way the site has gone in the past year has just drained me of the enthusiasm needed to throw myself into that kind of project.
As for SoRB, he can be genuinely insightful. Thanks for linking to that old convo Maria - it's an excellent example of shocking people into examining why they like or dislike violent video games. Some of his line by line dismantlings have been genuinely hilarious - some less so. Like him or loathe him, he's always interesting even if you don't agree with him (and I often don't).

Yep well if I'd have been one the day before yesterday, I'd have missed it. Trouble is I'll be on the look out for them everywhere now, which won't be great for my sanity.
He is very honest. Nastily so, regularly. And yes we could all be much more honest and say what we really think..but we don't tell the whole truth because society would fall apart quite quickly. And also online..but its good to have one or two like that to 'keep us honest' as it were.
But I do recall in the past him saying that he can be quite a coward about physical real life threats..and he's admitted to being mugged.
I'd have loved him to be at Goldsmiths when we had to present our work to around 50 students and staff..most of the staff being fairly successful and well known artists. Some cock sure types were reduced to drivelling idiots after these sessions. But that was because they were being dishonest and bull sh**ing. There was nothing the herd loved more than ripping those people to shreds.
But I reckon he would have been fine.

I disagree.
Don't you think that they (especially the Eds) are doing what they can under circumstances likely to be less comfortable than ours?
Give 'em a chance.
If we find ourselves in charge of hootoo we'll be able to call the tune. Until then, well, you-know-whoes does
(& we can be tolerably sure that They don't care too much).

I'm willing to bet they earn more than me.
And if we run h2g2, people will make allowances for that.
At present a multi national company raking in £billions runs h2g2. And we whom fund them find the most innane stuff regularly censored.
I'm past this whole thing of saying what nice guys they all really are. I've had to unsub from the footie/F IFA thread because everything I posted there got censored however vague.
