Today's US doodle honours cinematographer James Wong Howe. Reading about Howe caused me to order a book.
By his wife, Sanora Babb. She sounded really interesting. I think the book will make a good guide entry...
Oh, Howe was no slouch, either. He filmed one of my personal favourite movies, 'Seconds' by John Frankenheimer, a truly chilling science fiction story.

In a genre with "Seconds", (There were two versions, by the way, both featuring Rock Hudson, one black and white, the other color, something of an ultimate bete noir statement.) see also, "I Bury the Living".

An animated YouTube video is today's doodle in the US. Mister Rogers was one of the most wonderful men in TV history. He made children feel good about themselves, no matter who they were.

Today's US Google Doodle honours Roberto Clemente, a baseball player and humanitarian who died in a plane crash while on a relief mission.
Pittsburgh is very proud of him: he played baseball there for many years. Here's his statue:

An asteroid was named after him, too.

You really must all look at today's dodle. It's celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach and you can have fun composing little ditties which he will then harmonise for you.

Actually, that happened to mine, too. Not the way I learnt to do it, but a fun idea all the same

I see in the explanatory notes the widget is based on a computer analysis of Bach's idiosyncratic harmony rather than the the standard tables of harmony, an effort to recreate Bach's form.
