Today's Weiberfasnacht. Schmutziger Donnerstag. The women traditionally go crazy and go round being rude to men and cutting off their ties.

As it's Fasching/Fastnach/Karneval anyway, the doodle is a group of bouncing donuts.

Hey, thanks for sharing that! Elektra recognised what day it was immediately - because of the ties.
You didn't get the donut with the mustard in, did you, TC?

Today's St David's day doodle isn't very imaginative. It looks like the clip art selections you used to get about 15 years ago.

Only visible in England, Scotland and, of course, Wales.

They seem to be coming daily at the moment - today there's a St Patrick's day motif.

Did anyone else notice the glaring "oopsie" in Caroline Herschel's doodle?
It's the same glaring error that made me cringe every time I saw this Toyota commercial.

Do you see the problem here?
I'm sure most here will get it.
Phil Plait explains what's wrong.

As Brian Herbert says, in "Sidney's Comet", "...there are two kinds of comet, one is a magical comet...".
If I were taking an IQ test, I'd certainly identify the iconographic animation from the Google Doodle as an illustration of a meteor trail.
Given the aura of 'magical thinking' they seek to evoke in advertising, in advertising its iconographic for a comet.
Its like thr difference between science and religion and one does need to be careful not to unduly excite people given to un-self conscious magical thinking.

Another problem with Caroline Herschel's doodle was the telescope she's using. Caroline used a large reflector with mirrors made by/for her brother, not the piffling little thing the doodle shows.
