I use unmitigated with success.
Magwitch you're giving me flashbacks to my phenomenology lectures. Such dark, dark times.

Not sure about 'blatant', KB. Is it 'disregard'?

I thought blatantly obvious was a tautology. Isn't it a mistaken version of 'patently obvious'?

This question is one I've asked myself a thousand times over the years.
And I used to have a mental list of my favourites.
There are several very conspicuous ones.
But I can't for the life of me remember any right now.
They'll come to me eventually.
I'll be back. I'd love to share them with you.

It took a while and I only managed to retrieve one from my memory
files. So far...
And it reminded why I can't remember the list and why I've never
had the opportunity to articulate my thoughts on these things.
Most of them are so uniquely one-use adjectives that they have
been branded as cliches.
Heinous crimes.
In avoiding cliches I have lost most of them to the depths of
memory files labelled 'never called upon for creative writing
or conversation'.
Many may also be of war, crime and assorted unpleasant horrors
all tagged with 'repress this file' labels.
But now that I have a foothold I'm sure I can wrench out a few more.

As a professional chemist can I just at the idea of monosodium being a single use adjective
For a start it's not an adjective. It's part of the name of the chemcial
Secondly, there are many many compounds that can be counted as monosodium salts.
Oh and laughing policeman?

Icy North Posted Dec 17, 2010
That sounds like a good 'philistine test': What noun do you associate with the adjective 'laughing'?
I thought Cavalier.
