Anti-reflection screen for laptop

Post 1

Cheerful Dragon

I have a laptop that I'd like to use outdoors, but there's so much reflection on the screen that it's unusable. I've looked for anti-reflection film for laptops but all I can find is the privacy / security stuff that stops people seeing what you're doing. These are too expensive, especially as I don't need the privacy aspect of them.

Can anybody recommend an inexpensive anti-reflection coating for a laptop? Somebody on one website recommended using an old black stocking and turning the brightness up. If I can't find an inexpensive film, I may just do that.

I have used the black stocking trick on a standard monitor to cut down glare and it worked fine.

A related question, really. But do they still make laptops with a matt-finish screen? All the ones I've seen recently have shiny screens. I'm sure it makes them look attractive in the shop, but it's not very user-friendly.

Someone probably does KB, but I think most have shiny screens. My old laptop (may it rest in peace<winkeye) had a shiny screen and it could be annoying until images appeared when the reflection wasn't really noticeable.smiley - smiley

My laptop has a really good matt screen. It doesn't reflect the "spots" of light that you see on other laptops and it ....

oh hold on,

that's dust.

Sanding it with some very fine-grade emery paper might work. smiley - whistle
