Well sure but it's a bit abstract isn't it? Unless people actually use 'effers' to mean... what? I don't even know if it's a verb or a noun.

People do actually use the word "effers" as indicated. My father does, for example.

Effers;England.

Well it is commonly used ie eff as an acceptable substitute for smiley - bleep which ironically should mean its acceptable. But now it appears that the substitute itself is now unacceptable.

But yes my name kind of evolved actually from a Halloween anagram name connected to Fanny, and then Roymondo started calling me Effers based on the anagram I kept.

Yes I like the ambiguity of the name and presumably the real life people that run h2g2 considered it acceptable...but an impersonal new bbc filter doesn't.

It gets posted here though, and I think the h2g2 filter is the same as the message boards etc. Strange. Maybe we should shut up now smiley - winkeye

If you have just one h2g2 account, and a name that doesn't include anything like a rude word, just go and do it now. Follow the link given earlier.

still do not understand this, but when it affects me I will act. I do agree that the profanity filter may be a bit too tight though. Personally I very rarely swear or use so called 'rude' words, not to avoid offending people, but because it provides greater impact when I do!smiley - smiley
