You mean he may be Mycroft Dumbledore?

Who knows, maybe that's why he live in seclusion!

No, please, none of that! DD is dead, and he ain't coming back! Not as a ghost, not as the man some imposter died as impostering. No Dumbledore the White. And no, he does not come back as a phoenix either.

Yes, as the portrait of Dorain (the White) Grey... The portrait gets to have all the magical powers, while the body stays the way it is - little wonder, as the body is now no more than ashes...

There's an idea... Unless it wasn't his body at all!

Well...tried reading the backlog, got too tedious and repetitive after a hundred some postings. But I admit I thought no way snapes a good guy until I read this thread. Still I think either way works, except for the he looks bad so he can't be bad thing. And he's my favorite character. Also I thought Dumbledore was too much of a narator in HBP, so it would be cool if he was wrong about snape, but it would be better if harry was wrong. Better for Harry anyway. Also DD prepared harry so well that his death was no surprise at all.

Well, Harry's never been right about Snape yet... so that's the main reason why I think Snape is still a good guy. Albeit a good guy who used an Unforgiveable Curse... which may mean that he won't last the final book, unless Harry finds out the "truth" and manages to get the Ministry to believe the "truth"...
... it does make the Star Wars unification theory a whole lot more intriguing; it's certainly plausible that Snape could have a major hand in destroying Voldemort. Unfortunately though, he's not Harry's father.

Has anyone noticed that Harry's got a lot closer to using the dark arts in HBP? he still continued to use Septumsepra (I know that's the wrong spelling.) even after he found out what it did.
Perhaps he'll have to decide how far he's willing to go to achive his goals in the next book?

He did continue to use it, yes. But only against people that you feel deserve it.

But that's setting yourself up as a moral arbiter, isn't it? Who are we or Harry to decide who 'deserves it'?

I don't like the idea of Harry "going over to the Dark Side," even a little bit. But of course what I like doesn't matter. It would certainly make for great storytelling!

As long as it doesn't turn out like the Neverending Story - I never finished that because I hated what he becomes so much!

Does it not strike you as somewhat ironic that you never finished the Neverending Story?

When I saw the movie (Neverending Story) I was sorely tempted to ask for my money back. False advertising and all...
