What's wrong with Scandinavians?
Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry! Posted Jun 29, 2005
It depends on which Scandinavians you know. I work with some Swedes (people, rather than vegetables , and they're good, honest, helpful and quite fun - if a bit reserved at times. One of my colleagues works with another set of Swedes and has found them devious, stubborn and exceptionally difficult to work with.
Lucky Star, I'm sure I've seen Absolut Peppar in the UK, but it was several years ago...

Interesting what Gnomon said. I think I have that problem, I'm just too flatpan when I tell jokes. I wouldn't have thought that was a scandinavian trait though.
Yes, Greenland and Iceland are not considered parts of Scandinavia. They are just old Scandinavian colonies, like England.

I think I like this thread! Sometimes I recognise myself (tend to take a sour face personally) and sometimes not (Tall, blond, healthy looking )
Keep talking, or are we just enough dull to let the tread die from lack of frustration?

What Milla said
Post 16 is quite accurate.
Melancholy, I would add. Especially during winter. Just listen to the nordic music, read our books - (or watch a Finish tele-drama )

I know a few Swedes and the thing that always stikes me is the effusiveness of their greetings!
Being a small, fair, Scottish person, I have been knocked off my feet a few times and the bruises take a while to go when they grasp my arms to say hello!!

This isn't a "what's wrong with" as such: just that I noticed a very definite tendency among Swedish girls in particular to have an inclination towards darker-skinned males from South Europe, North Africa, Mid-East, the Carribean, et c: it seemed as if the only type of bloke who didn't stand a chance of copping off with a Swedish bird was a blonde white Swede! (or for that matter a visiting ginger-haired Welsh person - not nearly exotic enough)
You wonder if pale-skinned Nordic blondes will be but a memory if this takes its logical course over the next 100 year or so... what was that band who sang about the melting pot turning out coffee-coloured people by the score... but this was something you saw incredibly often, the blonder the girl the blacker the boyfriend. Hope this doesn't come accross as racist, it isn't meant to be, just an observation...

I´d say they just want something exotic. If you place a tall blonde in Italy, I´d think they will go rather crazy as well.

WWW Scandinavians?
As I've learned from my Swedish desk-neighbour, there's no Swedish word for "please".

p.s. She's also tall and blonde.
