The Party Poltical Broadcast by the Labour party. It didn't mention politics *or* the Labour party. Marvellously ineffective! I wonder what the others' will be like?

Ooh! Do you mean the one with the chameleon?
They could have saved a fortune in CGI if they'd just had a big caption saying "We're not planning on saying anything about ourselves but we thought you should know the other party sucks."

Yep. IIRC that's exactly the sort of thing they complained about the Conservatives doing in 1997!
(not that I'm expecting much better from them...)

Not a particular advert, but the way adverts are shown on that ABC channel was annoying me at the weekend.
They had a Scrubs marathon and it was broken up like this:
Opening credits.
Long advert break.
First half of the show.
Advert break with a long clip about a different show.
Second half of the show.
Short advert break and then the openingcredits of the next show.

From what I hear they compare Cameron to a chameloen because he says one thing to one audience and the opposite to another audience depending on what they want to hear or where they are.
Which strangely enough is exactly what Blair does. He has one favourite dish for the flat-capped yokels up north and one for the chinless wonders in Chelsea.
Pots and kettles or should that be cafetieres?

I'm listening to some absolutely sick-making radio advertising of a morning these days.
One is for the "directgov" website yes, our tax dollars being uselessly spent to try and get us to use government websites - which has a woman talking in baby voice, to her baby, about all the wonderful things she's found - like where the baby-related services are, local schools (for about 5 years' time) etc. It finishes by saying that she's also found the local mother and baby group, "So I can talk to someone my own age for a change".
So, no husband or boyfriend, then? Is this the government actually promoting single motherhood as a lifestyle choice?

Well, the assumption is that she wants someone of her own mental age, so what use would a boyfriend or husband be?

the foolishly stupid T-mobile advert where the guy jumps of the flat balcony and "bounces" off the ground to show "How flexible his life is with T-mobile". no warning before the advert and no caveat stating the avert was cretaing using special effects and children and stupid people shouldn't try jumping of high balconies.
i screamed at the tv when i 1st saw it, it's so irresponsible.

Hello again!
OK, since about the beginning of July, Film 4 (so named because they have 4 films to show, apparently) have been advertising in the press, on the Tube, and other places...
By showing an actress dressed as a lobster, and an actor dressed as a tomato. WTF? What's that all about? I utterly, completely and totally fail to understand how this promotes a free TV film channel. Anyone? help me out here, please!
RF
p.s. Thanks, Coelacanth

Personally, I've been empathising entirely with Ewan Macgregor. Just what *is* his motivation? Is he a fruit or a vegingtable?
It's quirky so it works. You've remembered the ad and you remembered what it was for. Well done the ad agency boys

It's free. The ads are tastefully placed. Nobody has to watch it if they don't want to but I've recorded some good* films off there.
*this is, of course, a matter of personal taste

all the 'Quote me happy' Ads... and my favorite* ones - Personal Injury Lawyers (Habe you had an accident, can we sue someone an take most of the compensation...) & Refinancing Companies...('Are you in debt - do you want to be paying us more for longer...)
*Favorite in this case means driving me apoleptic...

The "quote me happy" ads certainly do what they say. I was getting car insurance quotes on-line yesterday and the quote they gave me was double what 3 other major insurance players quoted. This had me rolling on the floor laughing and certainly cheered me up.

the most recent ad annoying me is a bbc3 trailer for a show thats yet to air call Miss jocelyn.
The bit that annoys me is one character whose a traffic warden is trying to issue a ticket to a bus.
it annoys me for these reasons.
the sign that says no parking is obviously fake, hand written and the wrong colour for a no parking sign.
also buses are excempt from parking fines and tickets.
which any traffic warden would know.
it's pedantic but BLOODY ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That adverts also annoys me, for entirely different reasons:
1. That joke was done by Dom Joly several years ago.
2. It wasn't very funny back then.
3. The whole of that new programme looks spectacularly unfunny.

I see that SC Johnson are trying to push themselves as a family company now. Interesting ads. I wonder how accurate those ads are?

The Groob Posted Aug 15, 2006
Some interesting adverts around voiced by Kathy Burke with a little monster creature invovled. Everyone in the ad looks really peed off with this little creature. Not accurate! If I had one of 'em I'd be straight onto eBay to see how much I could get.
(Sprite, or something?)
