What would home computing be like if Apple had never existed?
Pink Paisley Posted Mar 19, 2009
There would be more Linux (there. I said the L word. Someone was bound to).
And there was that IBM effort, OS2 as well wasn't there?

I'm not really convinced Apple can be termed little boys.
What's their market share? Somewhere around 6-8% I believe.
That's freaking shed loads of income in the grand scheme of things and puts them up there with most branded PC manufactures (but not the top players obviously).
Also before IBM showed everyone how their 8086 worked and invited everyone to write software and design peripherals for it nearly all home computer companies (and there many more than now) had a similar strategy of non-compatibility with others' product.

Also, criticise their marketing strategy all you like but where are the other rivals to IBM now?
