I'm scared!

Good lord.
My boyfriend's co-worker named his child "Shaman Orion."
The child will sell pot out of a van someday.

In France, the calendar is often used to choose a name: he's born on 25 December; hey, how about Noel?? In the French West Indies, it's even more obvious, as the 14th july is noted "Fête Nat.", so you get kids called just that! Or "Ascension"! Lots of the people just choose the "Saint of the Day" from the Catholic calendar! My own name is unknown in the feminine form here, so I very often get mail addressed to "Mister" and it took me years to get people to accept and write it properly.(Although the pronunciation is still somewhat iffy!)

My niece is called Nell. As she's only18 months old, she's referred to as Little Nell most of the time.

I wonder if my sister would rather have been called Noelle? They could have had a good conversation when she first met her husband.
Him: Hey, your first name is my middle name!
Her: What are you on about? (She's not interested in names, and he is.)
