IF (a very big IF) i was to have another baby, i'd love to call her Madison, for the simple reason that she could have the nickname Maddie.
I don't think she'd get teased in the playground for that???.....or am i deluded??

And my grandfather is named Ithel (eee-thul, it's Welsh).

I think people give they're children strange names because they want their child to be unique. My mother picked the names she did because her name is Lesley, with no middle name. Although she's thinking of changing it to Lesley Giovanna Charisima Margaret...

Jasper? That's a local name for a wasp.

Hate to say it, but Madison is seemingly only second to McKenzie for really popular girl's names in America.

Knowing what the Brits are like for copying American trends she won't get teased, but she'll probably be one of about 17 Madisons in her class.

Little Miss: you could always go with Madeleine (sp?), that could be shortened to Maddie too.

Not having had any children, I was amazed by the trauma caused to my friend this week after she had her little girl. Throughout her pregnancy she was convinced it was a girl and she and hubbie decided on Joanna as a name.

After the birth, her mother, his mother, and various other relatives and friends proceeded to tell her that was a horrible name and how many awful people they knew called Joanna. Not a wise thing to do to a newly delivered mother. She is now not talking to any of them!

By the way she and baby Tessa are now home and happy!

I have an unusual name, and I will give any girls I have unusual names, I think with boys though you have to be a little less weird!

and NO parent, in law etc will be getting ANY say what so ever! it will be our baby and that's it! grrrr at all this "but you have to have your grandfathers/mothers/aunts/cousin/milkman’s name as a middle name" lark!
