a badger job?

I just watched an episode of the old tv series The Professionals that was based around a 'badger job' - beautiful teenager girl pretends to get hit by shadow minister's car. Teenager seduces minister, sex is filmed by Russian spy in cupboard. Spy blkacmails minister into handing over govt papers, not for the paopers but to have minister in his pocket when govt changes.
So, do badgers often behave like that? i.e. why the name?

assuming the header question was serious, the answer is that 'to badger', meaning to pester etc comes from the sport of badger baiting. so it isn't what the badger does, it is what is done to the badger.
a badger job is one that is so egregious you can only get people to do it by persistent badgering.
