Why cant we do this and who else should we do it to?

It did work according to my parents, but I'm too young to remember
See? We're Mostly Harmless Yay us!

NPY Posted Apr 9, 2008
Well it must count for something. But I'd love to know how the heck it's supposed to work!

Next time I'm ill, I'm tempted to try a homeopathic remedy ... but neat. If it works in such small amounts, imagine how much more effective it must be _before_ you dilute it.

No, it's the homoeopath who *forgot to take his pills* and died of an overdose...

Bob,
If you want to take a neat bee sting or aconite, be my guest, I wouldn't recommend it as a healthy option though...

Yeah good idea ! Is that why we give them more money per capita than we get in England? or is it because they sell us the oil?

NPY Posted Apr 11, 2008
Would be interesting to see what the effects of the neat stuff would be. If one molecule in a vial of water can cure someone......
Or does it really have to be so diluted?
Why cant we do this and who else should we do it to?
DaveBlackeye Posted Apr 11, 2008
There is no molecule in the vial. In a 12c dilution, the chance of the vial containing a single molecule of the original compound is about 1 in 2 billion. The 'remedy' is just water, and funnily enough has been shown to have exactly the same effect as water.

NPY Posted Apr 11, 2008
Well I know, but even in an incredibly diluted mixture, the molecules have to be somewhere. They haven't just disappeared. So there's a chance, no matter how small, that there'll be the odd molecule in your vial. Right?
Why cant we do this and who else should we do it to?
DaveBlackeye Posted Apr 11, 2008
Yes, one chance in two billion. So if everyone on earth was given the same remedy, three people would get a molecule each.

NPY Posted Apr 11, 2008
Well yeah. Though does it make a difference to those three people? Probably not.
Why not save everyone a lot of trouble and just give people the watrer in the first place and tell them it's medicine.

Damn good question. We should ask them.

When you realise that post 97 is a reply to post 9, you might see that it is slightly less mad than you might otherwise suppose.
Many people don't bother checking what post you've replied to, so it's no bad idea to quote a little or to mention the posting number.

a pre-emptive, post modern posting from somewhere in time and space perhaps?
