>>Antarctic glaciers are melting faster than previously thought>>
Yep, that's what they said about Iceland too, where the glaciers where expected to melt away 1 metre per year - instead, NASA satellite surveyance showed they actually melt away at a pace of 10 metres per year.
China closes Tibet, no doubt so that there will be no eye witnesses to how they'll strike down anyone who dares commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dalai Lama's exile in public:

What is it with Marvel, anyway? The best comic books, but definitely not the best movies and almost certainly dreadful musicals. Whatever happened to progress?

The air traffic control service Nats has been found guilty of age discrimination by refusing to recruit trainee controllers older than 35.

The reason it caught my eye was some of you may remember I was considering a job with them a while ago. I passed all the testing only to fall foul of the age rule. The difference was, I agreed with their reasoning.
Darn - I could have gotten myself bona fide victim status

In a speech to Labour activists in Bristol, the prime minister said banks had lost sight of basic moral values.
It's not just the banks!

>>the prime minister said banks had lost sight of basic moral values.<<
Since when did banks ever have sight of moral values? You can't reasonably expect them to. We have government for that. Unfortunately, they got caught up in the right wing anarchist ideology.

Women should see the recession as an "opportunity" to show how valuable they can be in the workplace, Cherie Blair has told the BBC's The Politics Show. The human rights barrister and wife of former prime minister Tony Blair said firms were more likely to "take a chance" on a woman during the downturn. "This is an opportunity for women... to be part of the solution," she said. "You often find in times when things are going bad, that people are more prepared to take a chance and give a woman a chance."
