* arrives fashionably late *
In general terms, you are right B. It is a truly awful film.
However, I did once see it on a 70mm cinema print where the multi-track stereo balance was running out sync. It was quite a surreal experience watching a lampshade singing "My Favourite Things", whilst Julie Andrews sat next to it, silently opening and closing her mouth

I can top that!
I saw the Rocky and Bullwinkle film in an overwise completely deserted theatre. It was a really novel experience, and I was perfectly free to laugh at the bits that I found funny, rather staying quiet out of consideration for others.
And yes, there were a few bit of Rocky and Bullwinkle that I actually found funny.

It's schlocky kitsch, which is what makes it so attractive as a singalong/piss-take. Not really my bag but I can see why some people might get off on a few beers/glasses of Chardonnay followed by dressing up as a nun/Nazi/parcel. Unfortunately I know one of those people and she's threatening to have a TSOM theme to her next party.
And the wacky regulars at our local "arts pub" (for want of a better term) is doing a spoof on it for the Xmas panto. Can't wait!
Wot, no smiley?

Did Odo watch 'Von Trapped' last week?

Odo Posted Sep 15, 2004
Unfortunately not, I was up in Scunthorpe for the weekend and I’m sure it was Master B who hid the remote so that I couldn’t set the video to record.

I consider SOund of Music to be unmitigated tosh, but thought I'd also pass my opinion on the rest of the DVDs B listed on page 1:
An excerpt from my DVD collection:
The American Pie trilogy- puerile, but quite funny.
Back to the Future Trilogy- I was abig fan when i was younger, watched again recently, didn't enjoy.
Bill & Ted box set- There's a box set of that shit? They amde more than one?
Crimson Tide- I always get that mixed up with Hunt for Red October. Which one's Crimson Tide?
Con Air-
The Dish- The wha'?
Gregory's Girl- Ooh, that's good.
Hot Shots (& Part Deux)- Stone cold classics.
A selection of James Bonds- Why?
Memento- confusing, but quite good, yes.
The Naked Gun box set- Fantastic.
The Rock- The film about Alcatraz (not bad) or the wrestler?
Sneakers- Never heard of it.
All five Star Wars films- Muppet.
Yes Minister, and Yes Prime Minister- Reddems you for owning *all* the Star Wars films.
An excerpt from Odo's DVD collection:
Annie- The little orphan with the ginger hair? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
A Knight's Tale- Never seen it.
Lord of the Rings trilogy- Saw one of them at the cinema. Fell asleep. Wasn't tired before film.
Oliver- "You've got to pick a pocket or two". I'll give you that one.
Pride & Prejudice- The version with Colin Firth getting unnecesarily wet? I'll pass.
Rocky Horror Picture Show- Yes, yes, and thrice yes.
School of Rock- Enjoyable if inconsequential
Shrek- Not bad.
Ten Things I Hate About You- Saw five minutes of that once. Couldn't cope with any more.
The Sound of Music- unmitigated tosh.

I have to say that that list is most unfair of B, he went through my collection and picked out all the ones he didn’t like. I’m sure that’s cheating.

Tell you what, why don't you post your best and his worst, then I can be more objective...

Isn't that just getting a bit petty? Oh I see.....
Nope I'm not going down that route and can I please point out that there is nothing wrong with Colin Firth's wet shirt.
Crimson Tide is the one with the nuclear submarine and the long winded debate and mutinies over whether to fire the missiles when the message transmition thingy is out of order. Watchabel when on TV any you happen to be around, but not something I’d want to own.
Key: Complain about this post
