THE WHEEL

Sorry, in case you can't remember, before CDs came along we had tapes & vinyl. Therefore, CDs could actually be replaced in mankind's world by their predecessors.
Let's face it, mankind could never replace men, nor women, otherwise mankind would cease to exist.

Hey, I think you might have hit on one of the major items to add to the list!! We are all unique & original: can't be copied, totally mimicked nor replaced. Mankind wouldn't exist without us. Hugs back to all!!!!

Toupees. They are probably replaceable, but the world would be an inferior place as a result.

What? Artificial hair? Not replaceable? You are kidding! Actually I think without kind of stuff life would be much better. Men would accept their baldness, and women find bald men sexier anyway - Am I right, girls? - So it's for their crumpy little ego anyway. Toupets have no real use in this world!
As for the Male-female discussion: Nowadays it is possible to make "love in a tube", or nearly. Completely artificial babies will be a reality soon. Hey, who needs women anyway?
And that we are all unique, etc. is crap. What about cloning? What about having great parties with yourself? What about working only once a week and letting your six other egos do the rest of the job?
Apart from the wheel there is really nothing absolutely necessary in the world...maybe even the wheel is superfluous, but it's so nice and simple, so I won't miss it.
Apart from that, life would not be as it is without waches - especially digital ones Could you imagine how much fun we would have without them?

Ah, yes, that sounds right. Thank you.
Don't think I'll be leaving as long as this conversatio carries on .

Women are irreplaceble, men aren't... that's simple biology. And I can live a very happy life with Matt so don't you over generalise
*wanders off to the beach*

You obviously want to live in a timeless bubble, by yourself - sorry, that should be with yourself or even with your clone - floating around the universe, not meeting anything or anyone - may I add here there would be no music (not the sort you'd recognise anyway), no luscious food & who knows what the "air" would be like after a while!!
I do agree, sometimes, the use of watches & clocks are a ... nuisance & I for one would, most of the time, not miss them!!

Sorry, hands slapped! There are ALWAYS exceptions & in a converse like this we all generalise, otherwise it could get more complicated than it is now. Personally, I didn't want the converse to get into this men v. women state, I was thinking more along the everyday things we use and are in existence that can't be totally replaced in mankind's world.
You have just thought of another, maybe without realising ... the beach! What bliss - especially the sunups, I don't get to see the sunsets where we spend time away near the coast.
Live a happy & contented life!!

Glad to hear it!!
I reckon "conversation" could be something else that can't be replaced, otherwise we'd all go crackers (those of us that haven't already!!)

Jonathan Brisby Posted May 6, 2000
Yeah, good point!
Though, to be honest, I can live without a beach.

Yep, I suppose we all can, but nice to have seen one - we'll have the memories!!!

If you notice this notice then you will notice that this notice is not worth noticing Posted May 14, 2000
is the weel round or is that just a dream i had?
THE WHEEL
Shirps Posted May 14, 2000
The wheel is round in my dream &, I presume, everyone else's. Reality is the problem - things seem to go square shaped.

Well it certainly appears that a brain is expendable - I certainly haven't used one in years.

Shirps Posted May 18, 2000
Is that why you keep moving around so much? I.E. trying to find it somewhere in Canada?
THE WHEEL
Wild Stallion Posted May 19, 2000
And of course where would we all be without the Improbability Drive?

Or the Heart of Gold! Or Bistromathics. Which brings me to another subject, does anyone else feel that Bistromathics is stunningly similar to Internet Downloads, in that the numbers do not follow the regular laws of the Universe. Sometimes the minutes take hours, before flitting by in unseen flocks. An example? - I was downloading a game demo that 2 minutes before its completion had an "Estimated Time Remaining" recording of 1 hour 8mins!!! :-o
Oh yeah, we couldn't live without lager!
