It is a leap year - how is a girl supposed to propose?

Yes, I proposed. It went completely not to plan as well. We were going to stay with my family in the country, and the plan was to go for a lovely long walk by ourselves and ask him surrounded by the most fantastic view in the area and snowdrops and wild violets and crocuses and birds singing.

My family complete pain and because I wanted it to be a surprise I was unable to find a way of getting us out of the house by ourselves and it was freezing cold and kept snowing and eventually I thought I'd have to give up and wait another four years smiley - bigeyes. So Sunday evening we'd gone up to our room to pack our things and he was sitting on the bed with one sock off changing the plaster on his sore toe, and there was dirty laundry all over the floor (I'm a messy packer) and it couldn't be less romantic and I suddenly found my mouth went on autopilot and I blurted out 'Will you marry me?'. I think I win an award for least romantic setting of 2004. But he said yes! And has been grinning happily at walls, chairs, the telly, complete strangers and buses ever since. Which, I must say, is very flattering.
