As everybody knows by now (or should do!) a gam is the collective noun for a plural number of weasels.
It originally came about when some wise guy corrected some un-wise guy for saying "a flock of mauve weasels"

I still like : "The story with an irrelevant title"
Then again it's probably a biased view since I came up with it.
I just think it would raise a giggle out of anyone who read it and would therefore intrigue (intreeg? inreage? intrige? oh I don't know) them and make the actually read (at least some of) it.

Hi everyone.
I haven't read the story since chapter 1 so the naming of it is a bit beyond me. I had thought of doing a guide entry for it and lots of other stories though, as I hadn't got round to it I'm glad you're doing it for me

I like h2g2 storytellers - or how about DIY stories?

I'd better go and read THE story now (why not call it 'the story' !) so I'll be back in a year or so...

I say we make TDV publish it in book form, and give a share of the money to everyone who contributed! Personally, I don't care what title we give it. The H2G2 Storyteller's Room is possibly the best name for the Guide Entry, but how about in the Entry, we just write a little history about the story without giving it a name, plus adding the links to the past stories. So far, the three titles I like best are:
"The Story With The Irrelevant Title"
"The Story"
"Okay, so I can't think of any good titles!"

In that order. I think I'll start setting up the Guide page now, and I'll add the story's title after we decide on one . . .

Sure, it's an inside joke, but it will make people wonder what it is, so they'll click on it and come 'inside' to find out what the joke is. But anyway, it looks like that's not going to be the title.

Being a mad acronymaniac, I just realised last night that GAM could stand for Green And Mauve - the two most common colours of weasel in the story.

You know, as well as links to the chapters of the story, just after the title we should have a link to this conversation so that people with too much spare time on their hands (i.e everyone who reads the story!) can read how the title, whatever it turns out to be, came about.

Maybe we should just do the darn voting thing soon. Well, technoyokel seems to have found us again. He/she made the first post that started the story so I thought it wouldn't hurt to inform him/her about the voting and stuff. So why don't we take a couple more suggestions (or not) and then just vote.

Sounds good to me. Should I contact Steven Speilberg about the movie deal, or should I wait?

As someone who would prefer reading a book before it being spoilt by a movie, I vote to hold off on that phone call til the thing is bound and on the best seller list.

Or whatever.. the title is not really important to me.. as long as we get started!

Hey, sorry! I just thought the story was building up to a nice little climax, so . . . Well, just continue it in a new universe, or something. Of course, with the inter-dimensional/temporal paradox creator machine gone, I'm not sure how. But don't worry; we'll figure something out.

As Anonymouse suggested in the forum of the new entry, we could continue this story as well as starting a new one. But anyway...

Well, I guess my vote is much like that of a primary school teacher - you're *all* winners! I think we should mention all of the possible titles... or, like the entry is now, have a link to this very discussion. Of course, we'd still have to have a name for the actual entry... well, I like the name it has now but I also like the idea of 'Okay, so I can't think of any good names!' or whatever that one was. But it doesn't matter a whole lot since it links to this anyway.

Well the guide entry has been made and I am so tired. Lets just go there and I don't mind if we start anew or continue. And I will again go give peta link to the entry.

So is this entire entry the title? How'll they ever fit this on the cover when we make our book deal?

How about "Book I: An Exercise in Capturing Audiences"

Or, we could just leave a message in the preface saying something like, "To see the full title of this story, just go to http://www.h2g2.com/addnewthread.cgi?inreplyto=239901." How about that? We'd still have to put something on the beginning of the book, though.:-)
