as for Wickerman, I am mildy intrigued to know how they have managed to weave killer bees into the story. Do please tell if you go see it, as we all know the problems associated with the resident killer bees in Scotland.
As for remakes, can I just ask why 'they' don't remake crap films? It would make far more sense really...

I think they remade The Poseiden adventure recently didn't they? They pulled off the miracle of re-making a crap film even CRAPPIER than the original.

Ah, maybe that's it. Maybe 'they' know that remakes are always cr*p so remaking a bad film will come out even worse.
I, personally, am waiting for the remake of Fire Maidens from Outer Space. Not.

I wonder if they could remake Schindlers List as a musical?

He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out who's Nazi or nice

I'm still not sure about 'triple wood' being replace by Nic Cage (much as I love him) Review later, please

The Wickerman remake is currently rated at 3.7 out of 10 on IMDB. This does not augur well and is, quite frankly, heading towards 100 worst films territory.

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Well, i've just seen it!!!!
Bad things:
It's set on an island off Washington state, not Scotland. It's no longer a community of men and women in the traditional sense, it's more something from the animal world. (I won't spoil the new twist)
Some of the acting was shockingly bad. Including a few scenes with Cage where he was doing an impression of Ross from 'friends' i think, to add to the innocent quality his character was supposed to have.
It was overly wordy, and a bit philosophical in places, and my attention was drawn to trees that appear to 'bounce' in the background.
Good things:
It still follows the original very closely in places. This is particularly in the school scene, and the lead up to, and the ending.
Cathy Bates as the innkeeper is really quite good, and plays the role on the edge of camp humour, and brooding menace....best performance by far.
The (male) Nicholas Cage groupie that i went with, never guessed the real victim's identity til the end (having not seen the original) So for a first time viewer, it holds suprises.
It pays homage to the original with some fun In-jokes. Cages character is called Edward Mauis, and the missing girl(who he discovers is his daughter) is called Rowan Woodward. EDWARD WOODWARD!!! Also, when, near the beginning, Cage goes to see his buddy in the police station, we are treated to a really quick shot of a wanted/missing poster on the wall.....looked remarkably like Edward Woodward to me. This poster is visable (just) over Cages shoulder for a bit too.
Mostly though, what i liked, was it's feeling of really amateurish cheapness. It looked like the budget was small, and the acting a bit lame, effects not too special, and all in all, a bit......well, cheesy. Rather like the original in many ways. I think herein lies it's poor reception in America, they don't understand how shoddy the original was, and this is attempting to capture that feeling. (I hope) If that really wasn't the intention, then this is a stinker.
I liked it. I'd say 6 out of 10, with potential to become a small time cult classic in it's own right. Worth a look.

Thank you airscotia, that's brilliant.
And 6 out of 10 is pretty good, so I think I'll go and see it. Cheers.

I like how people mentioned good and bad Peter Jackson films without even mentioning Heavenly Creatures - granted perhaps not one of the easiest films to watch at the best of times, but still got a good mile on those mentioned...
I dunno a remake of the dambusters wouldnt be a bad thing. If you investigate the thing a bit further you find out that a lot of the info on the mission wasnt declassified when the film was made - the film has the potential to be closer to the real thing then the original if its brave...
And remakes arent all that bad - think about it
Batman wasnt that bad, but now we have batman begins which is a better film.
Dune is another good example - fair enough it was made into a mini series but still, it counts.
Depending on Producers and cast Ill go and see it - I cant see Peter Jackson throwing in an american character, BUT a token american to keep the paymasters happy... yeh thats forgivable

I belong to that small minority group that thinks the original Dune was quite good, actually.
