Is any one else fed up with living in a place that for about a month or two we are subjected to aerial bombardment and what sounds like small arms fire i'm no buzzkill but surely this comes under civil rights (fireworks ok but why the interminable bang bang BANG BANG bang lets have colourful but noise free Noise is pollution after all (incidentally are there any stas; for casualties from falling debris ?and i have no hidden racist or religous agenda just the fact that no one tells animal owners to keep your pet in for a month and that is what you have to do

No, they shouldn't be banned. Existing laws relating to their sale and use should be better enforced.

Yeah like that's going to work. can't we just make the burning down of firework whrehouses legal so they all go off together

No, because a lot of people get a lot of pleasure out of them. You may as well say we ought to ban cars because people break speed limits.

personally I think that the general public should not be able to buy fireworks only licensed professionals.

Maybe you ought to have to get a licence to let off fireworks, just one that costs £5 or something, that way you have the licencing people to complain to if they annoy you.

1) No fireworks after 10pm
(I was woken up by a 'bomb' going off at midnight last night)
2) Fireworks only allowed on the Nov 5th or nearest Saturday.

There are casualties of fireworks. Many birds die of shock.

You would think it is common sense not to let them off after 10pm. Unfortunately commons sense is really uncommon sense and most people have a 'i dont give a hoot about anyone else' attitude. I feel sorry for young children in this area.

That's not fair on people celebrating Divali or Ramadam. No fireworks after 2200 sounds fine for most of the time, but what about on New Year's Eve, when a lot of licenced displays start at 0000?

How about fireworks allowed all year round, but only before 2200 except on certain days like New Year's Eve etc. when they can be allowed later?

It kinda makes a mockery of all those ads that say keep your pets indoors on fireworks night. My cats are outdoor cats. They haven't used a litter tray for 5 years and have to go outside to "go". We try to keep them in on Nov 5th but there is no way we can keep them in for the month before and after that date - which is how long the bloomin' things go off for around here.
I agree about the bangs - what is the point? Pretty yes, bangs no.
If you asked half these eejits to take a £20 out of their pockets and set fire to it they would tell you to off. Surely that's what they are doing by setting off pointless bangers.
22.15 Bangers been going off constantly just outside my window for 10 minutes.

"personally I think that the general public should not be able to buy fireworks only licensed professionals"
A few years back I used to have a Black Powder Licence, to get this licence I had submit an application to the Police and it granting was subject to me meeting certain criteria (approximately similar to that required for a shotgun licence (which I also had)). That black powder licence allowed me to buy & store gun powder, but anybody can go out and buy fireworks - the prime constituent of fireworks is gun powder.
explain why either the fact I needed a licence was wrong or the fact that you can buy fireworks without a licence is wrong.

Fire works are a menace.we have been listening to them every day and night since the end august.
if they going to be sold to the public they should be only sold on the day,and not before..
a couple of days ago there was some little kids no older than 6 playing with fire works throwing at a little girl. i aproached them to get told mind my own by their farther,
i called the police but dont know what came of it..
Key: Complain about this post
