for BabyBels and family, I met you at the London meet, though I probably don't remember you. I'll miss Bels, he was certainly someone I looked up to onsite an awful lot.

I was tidying up my conversations and came across this again.
Just over 2 years since Bels passed on.
A gentleman and a scholar, and still in my thoughts from time to time. When I faced surgery this year I thought of the fortitude with which he faced his medical situation, and took courage from it.
Thanks again Bels.

Thanks for reviving this Mackay. I too find myself thinking of Bels at odd moments. It's a strange place, this cyberspace.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted May 7, 2006
I read his entry about bowl cancer, which my dad died of, along with other types of cancer too.
It is very strange but when I read it it was like the person writing it was still alive, I had not met him before reading the entry.
......a very strange feeling indeed, he did seem like a humourous person as well!

Hi Bels
I found you article very interesting as my husband (80) and in extremely good health for his age has just discovered the dreaded blood in his motions and was lucky enough to get an emergency appointment the following day. We fear the worst but hope for the best. The doctor thinks it should not take too long to get an appointment with the consultant.
This is a good place for me to browse and learn as much as I can.
As you say just popping in to say hello and hope you are having many good days.

Hi Zsf
megaJonnie is an un-ACEd newbie, I've already been and posted a welcome on her PS and left her some relevant information for their situation.

Hi GalaxyBabe!
Oh dear - that'll teach me to post in haste.
Hi megaJonnie - please do accept my apologies if I sounded brusque - I didn't mean to. . Rereading my post, I also may have sounded fairly unsympathetic and if I did, I'm sorry.
You'll find h2g2 a really friendly place, so please take you time - find your way around all its nooks and crannies, and by all means, ask if you need help or advice.
I hope the news about your husband is good.

Pin referred to some sub-ed work of Bels in one of his entries today, which naturally brought me back to here.
His home page has died with the latest 'upgrade' yet for some strange reason 'the eyes' are next to his name. Maybe he's looking down and laughing at the latest convolutions of the site.
Good to talk to you again Bels.

however earlier of his ps pages on that site didnt work so its quirky and subject to change evidently so maybe someone who knows how can use that to get it reinstated here?
i believe it is still functional too!
