Beware I hold more grudges
than lonely high court Judges

Mark and Lard played a great Morrissey (or possibly Smiths) song today. About "meeting at cemetry gates" or summat.

Where?
There
Is she trying to get out of that clitoris

Messrs Thompson and Dury are both fortuneatly recognized as national treasures. Almost all of their collected works are worthy of inclusion here.
I also think the following lines from Jerry dammer's 'Pearl's Cafe' have a cetain resonance;
'It's all a load of b*ll*cks
It's all a load of b*ll*cks
And b*ll*cks to it all.'

"Give me a few days, and woman I'll make you a girl"
-Badly Drawn Boy "Have You Fed the Fish"
"Northern Song" by the Beatles - all of it is v funky!
....basically all Beatles songs have great lyrics, especially those from their more bizarre era such as "I am the walrus"
"Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" by Queen. Ingeniously camp!
"You were right" by Badly Drawn Boy - both entertaining and philosophical!

"Even in this light, your tits look white against the tannnin'
And I know that we're a couple, 'cause we went down family plannin'"
- Afterwards, Arab Strap
I still think that second line is one of the best ever written

Another stain on another blue dress - Kirsty McColl "Here comes that Man Again" from Tropical Brainstorm is a wonderfully sly throwaway line

Egon, that would be The Smiths with Cemetry Gates.
"A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're wanted
And I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
But you lose
'Cause weird lover Wilde is on mine"
How about:
"- And I'll never throw my knickers at you
- And I don't come from Wales"
Space and Cerys Matthews, The Ballad Of Tom Jones

"Frankly Mr Shankly, this position I've held
it pays my way and it corrodes my soul.
Oh, I didn't realise, that you wrote poetry
I didn't realise you wrote such bloody awful poetry"
Probably my favourite of all of the verses in the song

If not today, then when?
If now then why make all your promises
A love delayed for days to come
Is as good as none
Tracy Chapman again, infact there isnt a lyrically weak track on that album.
If you've ever been the third wheel of a love tricycle this is a song you'll understand, if your the third wheel right you should get hold of a copy ASAP.
Maybe its some pressure of being up there by yourself that forces great lyrics out of people.
I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on thembut they were only satelites
Its wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you cared
