When is it ok to kill people?

Post 301

combattant pour liberte

According to Bush and Blair, whenever they say so.

According to me: self-defence, and killing combatants in a 'just war' (yes I know that's hard to define) or a 'defensive war' (also hard to define, but I consider Palestinian attacks on the Israeli MILITARY in the West Bank and Gaza Strip defensive, i.e. resistance against illegal foreign occupiers). THAT'S IT!

I don't support the death penalty or euthanasia.

In reply to Otto Fisch,

This post was intended as a reply to some very faulty logic and to demonstrate that by manipulating words we can often make the opposite argument just as pithily. It was intended to be ironic and was in direct response to Hoovoloo's post (quotation below). I'm sorry, I thought that was obvious.

>Question 1: Are you in favour of the death penalty?
>Question 2: Do you personally volunteer to be the first/next innocent person killed by the state?

>Notes: Anyone answering "yes" to the first question and "no" to the second doesn't get their vote counted because they obviously don't understand or accept the consequences of the system they're voting for.

>Anyone answering "yes" to both questions is congratulated on their commitment to their principles and shot in the back of the head as they leave the polling booth.

>Any answers?

smiley - blush Sorry, I feel stupid now!

The home secretary, David Blunkett must have been reading this thread. If he gets his way, life will mean life for the worst crimes. Have a look:
