There are certain jobs in the nuclear industry that men are allowed to do that women are not, on the grounds that since men's gonads are external they can be properly shielded from the effects of radiation, whereas women's cannot. Women are therefore barred from operating in certain areas due to that quirk of physiology. It's not that they *cannot* do the job, it's that if they did the job they would suffer unacceptable health effects that would not affect doing the same thing.
Does that count?
Beyond that rather specific and rare case, I can't think of anything, personally.
On the point about firefighters, if *I* (an adult male weighing over 85kg) was trapped in a burning building and was depending on a firefighter to carry me out of there, I'd rather see a burly bloke coming up the ladder than a woman, for rather obvious reasons. Firefighting is NOT like police work. A large part of policework is conflict resolution, dealing with *people* - something I'd expect many women to be better at than men. Firefighting by contrast is for the most part is dealing with the behaviour of inanimate objects.

Seriously though, my aunt was the first female firefighter in her part of london - assuming a certain minimum level of strength carrying someone is largely about technique. I personally observed her carting my Dad around the garden with ease, and he is not a small chap by any stretch of the imagination

That's why I said it was like police work 'in some respects' - ie. the bit of police work that are like firefighting, the physical stuff that requires a level of fitness.
No doubt if you were the hostage of a beefy criminal in an armlock and the only way out was to have a policeman 'have a go' then a beefy six foot policeman would be preferable to a petite WPC.
WPCs have to do riot duty just like the blokes afaik.

I wouldn't have thought slinging people over your shoulder would be the most strength-intesive part of the job, since the burden is on the body's structure as a whole, rather than muscle effort.

I would also imagine getting people out of a burning building is likely to involve teamwork. Are firefighters allowed to enter a burning area alone and without support? I doubt it.
I once put my back out in an upstairs room of my house and it needed two ambulance crews to get me down the stairs. The second crew that were called were ladies and managed OK although I do recall thinking it was a teeny weeny bit unfair to expect two ladies to deal with picking up my ample frame

Given that the petite WPC would be carrying a canister of pepper spray and a big stick I'm not sure it would make that much difference, to be honest. (Not sarcasm, really.)

There are no jobs that a women can't do.Women will sometimes have to employ different skills and talents in some jobs as will men..
What there are, are jobs that men think women shouldn't do and jobs that women think men shouldn't do and then there are the jobs that either sex thinks the other sex should do.
It's a shame that some of us still think along gender issues about life. That they think that only thinking of PEOPLE by their gender is more important than thinking of them as people.
So there is no job that a person cannot do.

I'd assumed he was doing that when he started talking about gonads.
