Considering the periodic protests of tuittion hikes...probably too much for a few people!

OK, so it's not free or cheap, but it's MUCH less expensive than Northwestern (my only point of reference.) 10 years ago the tuition was $13,000 / year for an undergraduate degree (regardless of major.) Though there are certainly cheaper universities. But they did offer loads of scholarships or I could not have attended. I am worried about ever being able to afford to send my children to college.

I've always been of the opinion that Education at all levels should be free but standards should be high. Sadly, the reverse seems to be true: low standards and high fees.
back to the news story that started the university talk: the story was exciting for me because of a certain event which happened on my birthday back in 1989. I have very subdued birthdays now, but more women going into engineering and sciences may make me feel better this year.

I'm sorry. It sickens me to think of the people whose anger or insanity or whatever has allowed them to cross that line.

Yes. Sorry, I just brought you down and it wasn't with diplomacy.
Isn't it weird to carry on two conversations at the same time with the same person?

Yes it is weird. But my connection is so slow that I can type one message while it refreshes the other thread. Is it rude to ask where in Canada you are? I'm in Denver.

It's not rude as far as I'm concerned, but I thought you would have figured it out from my University of Alberta, and Edmonton Waste Management links. Jazzedupcurry and I are both in Edmonton (near as I can figure it, about five blocks apart, although I haven't got a clue who he is. Now that's weird: having a conversation with someone down the street by sending messages to london and back.)

I figured Edmonton but just wanted to make sure. As far as visiting Canada, I've only been to Edmonton, Calgary and Barrhead (and Redeer but jsut to pee.) That's not true, we drove through Jasper and Banff National parks too. Gosh, the mountains are beautiful there (and I do get to see mountains every day.)

Actually, Ms. augen (can I call you blaue?) I pictured you as being from somewhere further east. I don't know why.
I hope the anti-americanism you've been noticing doesn't chase you away. That would be sad.
By the way, I'm going to suddenly disappear at some point soon.
