We do install regimes that do our bidding, and when then stop we either badmouth them or overthrow them, e.g. Saddam Hussein of Iraq, the mujhadeen in Afghanistan, Noriega in Panama, etc.
And Pax Americana exploits the Third World just like the British Empire did. What about Third World debt, US corporatins using sweat shops, the refusal to spend our billions on feeding the Africans and Asians instead of on weapons etc.?
And if what America did in Latin America during the Cold War wasn't imperialism I don't know what is. What would you call overthrowing Marxists/socialists/leftists/neutralists and replacing them with fascist military dictatorships? For example, the CIA helping Augusto Pinochet overthrow the democratically elected Marxist Salvador Allende in one of Latin America's bloodiest coups.
