Dragonflys?
paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant Posted Feb 18, 2003
I think damselflies can be mistaken for dragonflies.
If damselflies do sting (or bite), then that may
explain why some people think dragonflies sting (or bite).
Actually, the larval form of dragonflies has powerful
jaws that can give a nasty bite. It stays in the water,
though, so you'd need to be in the water with it in order
to get bitten....

The Dragonfly does bite... but not in the sense that a Mosquito does... it's more of a pinch than a blood letting if you see what I mean... I think they're may have been trying to dispel any myth that the the Dragonfly is parasite...
btw Horseflies are nasty...

Yes... I was nipped by an Emperor Dragonfly a while back... it simply landed on settle on my arm for bit... I felt quite privilaged then it bit me
they have no sting... not a stinging structure such as that you associated with a wasp or bee nor ant toxins for spitting or squirt such as a fire ants...
Just a strong jaw...

I was seeing a girl a bit like that a while ago. No sting or venom as such but a strong jaw.

Why shouldn't a dragonfly appear on the third floor of a building in a seaside resort!? We are very very resilient!!!!
We've been around since prehistory, so the real question is: what were YOU doing, living in a seaside resort, in a man made building!??

Scientists have studied dragonfly wings in an
effort to understand flight. Artists have painted
dragonflies. When I see a dragonfly hovering above
my lawn or front walk, I stop to admire it.
It is said that some dragonflies live their entire
post-larval lives in flight. They even copulate
in flight.
