2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Feb 13, 2003
good point : But if conversations were pretty rapidly being updated at the point the post is made, then the conversation with it in would very quickly disappear off the most recent conversation list So it would have to be found quick really... Unless, of course, the poster notices it

If everyone's thinking bout it tho, when it comes close to the time everyone will automatically be checking their own posts too.

Not really... I find over the weekends, this place is really desolate... Which goes to show how much of a social life I've got...

Whisky Posted Feb 14, 2003
Ok, I'm back...
In the last 24 hours there have been 5611 postings
(Taking post 51 and my previous post as references)
From my last post to the 3 millionth post we need another 11601 posts...
By my reckoning there's at least a 25% drop off in postings over the weekend (everyone's got to pay for h2g2 at the weekend - during the week we're just skiving off work )
So, I'd say they'll be around 5000 postings between now and Saturday morning, 4000 more between then and Sunday morning, leaving us around 2500 short of the target by this time on Sunday morning...
So Sunday evening/night is looking about right to me
(So who's not going to bed on Sunday night then?)

Well, with all the banal and futile things we've been posting tonight we could get there quite quickly!

Do I, or am I, intended to, or even attempt to, desipher from the tone and nature of the meaning invisaged and entombed within those words so quickly and swiftly and delicatly placed, that, in relation to the task, or mode, or even end point of a certain number of posts, you regard, and quite possibly others also too, that the posting of multiple, meaningless, possibly fluffy, and even, by a stretch of the thorax, quite reputibly pink to boot, posts, in threads of H2G2, will, eventually, lead to a situeation in which both the number to which we pertain, and the way in which we achieve it are alligned, becoming at once, both the same and somewhat intrinsically never linked otgether in such a way of reverence and beauty, to cause, from the fallen ashes of those ill-forgotten places, to rise, fledgling, and naive, yet prestine and verginesk in its state of newness and beginning, that to which we find ourselves, inexplicibably drawn, as if by the gossamer threads of a spiders-web, drawing inwards, yet symultainiously outwards, the very essence of existance in such a way as to incoperate, whilst excluding that to which we seak?

(raises hand)
I have a question?
What would happen if the 3 millionth post happens on some obscure thread by someone who has never even heard or your bet? I bet that this is what will happen and that it will be weeks before anybody finds it.
