Anyone dabbled?
I thought it was more of a teen thing, but I know people who've used one and been told some eerie things. Eg) That earth would be invaded by alien bipods. They didn't know the meaning of "bipod" until they looked it up in a dictionary. I know someone else who had his life path predicted very accurately by the OB. Could've been a self-fulfilling prophecy. Any views?

Most Pagans I've spoken with are always ready with dire warnings and bad stories of Ouija boards. I've never tried one, can't see the point really. Tarot cards are quite spooky enough, thankyou!

Not the ones I've met. Well, there are always exceptions of course... but there are many bad, bad stories about Ouija boards. It's not something to do lightly.

Well, it's all to do with dabbling in something you don't know about. Be it the recesses of your mind, or the spirit world. Things that you shouldn't touch should stay untouched.

MaW Posted Feb 9, 2003
Yes. Of course, the problem then is in defining what shouldn't be touched...

Well. Life has a pretty varied way of informing you NOT to do things.

It is not wise to open doors when you do not know what lies behind them. Of course that is just one mans opinion.

Ouija boards are definately BAD news! If youre thinking of dabbling Spinks seriously ..DONT.
Whats spooky about the Tarot by the way? (sorry im tired and cant remember who said that!)Ive been studying and learning to read them on and off for a couple of years now ..and they really are fascinating, very helpful too.Saying that though one of the first decks i had was ..a little disturbing! it as the Thoth deck(the one that was designed for Aleister Crowley). The imagery was very dark,as were the interpretations in the book that came with them. Also in the book was a little "invocation" to do before
doing a reading..it didnt say exactly what you were caling on..but i wasnt expecting the easter bunny!Anyway..first reading i did was so good it freaked me out somewhat!.I didnt keep that deck long..and i know others who have had unpleasent experiences with that particular one too.The cards i have now on the other hand (a 60's print of the Marsailles deck)are quite beautiful and inspiring.

Thoth [and Isis and Osirus] happen to be my favourite gods and given how I've just become that's all I'm contributing for now*L*

I'm not thinking of dabbling. We went through all that in our teens.

I dabbled. I didn't believe anything would happen - thought it a lot of stuff and nonsense. I was wrong. Nothing *bad* happened, just that something *did* happen was all I needed to make me never touch it again.
I 100% trust the 2 other people that were there with me and besides which the stuff that was *said* they would never have known about. The answers and messages were all aimed at me.
I *spoke* to my Grandpa who died in 1971. My initials (including my middle initial which the others didn't know) were spelt out and then when asked who was there it spelt out my grandpa's jewish name and then Gdansk - which is where he was born in Poland. Even I didn't know that - I had to ask my dad later. Then a message was spelt out over and over "A BABY" "A BABY" "A BABY". It was then that I asked if we could stop and leave it alone and the others agreed. We burnt all the letters and smashed the wine glass.
It left me a little shaken but not worried. I won't ever touch one again though as I now respect that there *is* something and we shouldn't mess with it.

I've dabbled once but with absolutely no response. I have to say I'd try it again too. I understand that there are powers that exist that can be dangerous but I don't think it's asking for trouble to try to communicate with the other side.
The problem I have is I've never been even slightly receptive to anything psychic. Although I want to, I've never seen a spirit or had a paranormal experience despite being a believer.
The closest I come is reading Tarot for people and I'm told I'm very accurate with the cards.

Apparently it's quite possible to enter a light state of hypnosis when doing a OB and involuntary muscle movements can make the glass move. Also there can be a lot of facts (such as Gdansk) stored in your subconscious you don't know about.

I agree. The only thing that got me was the fact that when we *tried* to move the glass (it was an upside down wine glass with a round bowl and long stem) by pushing it or pulling it with one finger, the damn thing tipped over every time. Yet once it began *spelling* it just glided.
The details about my Grandpa could have been subconscious but as I was the only one who really didn't believe and didn't want to do it in the first place why would my mind dredge that up? I have other relatives and friends that have died that I know far more about - he died when I was 5.
I never did work out what "A BABY" was all about.

Yes, I did one when extremely drunk and the glass glided. The way it glided was very spooky. I did one when someone was deliberately moving the glass and it moved in a completely different way.
Has anyone heard of or used the Planchette method?
