Sho - employed again!

fb is great for sharing family news/info/photos - we have a closed group for that and it's great. More in touch than ever but no pressure to join in if you don't want.

in fact that might be a good Ask question... how people use social media.

Funny, that, I was about to post the same thing, having been locked out of hootoo for well over a year now...

Indeed! The funny thing is, going by my journals I seem to have briefly made it back about six months ago, probably by the U-number method, but it didn't last long.

That's more something to blame 2legs for than a petty hate, though.

The word, people is BELGIAN smiley - cross

You can call me TC

That's been one of my petty hates for ages. It looks so unprofessional and the BBC do it all the time.

I didn't notice it so much until Gosho repeatedly pointed this trend out.

It seems to be some new rule in the style guide at BBC. I don't really see it that much elsewhere. But that may be more of an indication of the media sources I choose.

PH: Passport application.

The passport office have been unable to get in touch with the person countersignature, so now I have to fill in the whole form again, get another set of photos, and get them countersigned again, without any reason to think they will be able to get in touch with the new countersignatury.

Having phoned the passport office, I'm told there's nothing I can do to get them to persevere with the original countersignatury.

My last six passports have been issued through the local consulate, a process which takes two days max, but it is of no use to you. However, members of my family, and friends, have been very pleased with the passport checking service offered by the Post Office. Their passports have arrived back within three weeks. smiley - starsmiley - star

I didn't need to get my forms of photo countersigned for the last renewal. Is it for a new passport?

No Sho, they (two of them0 are renewals, but they are for my kids.

Does the Post Office service guarantee that the countersignatury confirms the identity of the photo, I wonder? I would assume not.

weird that they need countersigning. That was always a complete PITA for us, but these days everything is very easy (but horrendously expensive)

Glad to have so many people return, after longer and shorter absences!

My PH of the day: people who keep changing appointments.

I get that the saddler is busy. But he was initially meant to come at 10:00 this morning. Yesterday it was changed to 14:00, so I changed my half day off to the afternoon. And now it's at 18:00, after I finish work anyway. And I will be testing saddles in the dark now...

PH: The roadworks outside my house. Our normal way out of the neighborhood has been shut off all winter, making us go the long way round (1 km) via a bus street. And although I see progress every day, the new (old) way out still seems like it's never about to happen.

Having to chuck socks away when just one gets a hole in. I've toyed with the idea of just buying all socks the same but never got around to it. Nobody darns socks any more, I remember my ma doing it, often with different colour wool or thread, nobody thought anything of it then. I suppose they're just another throwaway item these days, seems a shame. Goodness me I've just had a flashback. There used to be a department store in Gateshead where a lady spent her days repairing nylons, she sat in like a glass cubicle, and people brought their nylons in for repair, we used to watch her for ages, I hope the nylons were washed beforehand! Could you wash nylons? I really don't know.

Yes, you can wash nylons.

Source: watching films about the '40s where men complain about their wives hanging the nylons from the shower curtain.
