>He stumbled in a sawmill?
No
>was he a stage magicians assistant and the magician was not very good and killed him during the 'cutting in half' stunt. If he'd seen the sawdust, he would have noticed the blood from the previous assistant and wouldn;t have got in the box?
No good idea though!
>We seem to be floundering here, so let's start asking questions in a methodical way. Did the death occur outside?
No
>Was he really quite short?
Yes

Did he die because something was shorter than he expected it to be?

Ah, I think I've heard this one. Was he a circus dwarf/shortest person in the world who comitted suicide because someone had been shortening his walking stick & he thought he was getting taller & would lose his job?
Mini Mysteries!
Odo Posted Nov 25, 2002
Teaswill. He was the shortest person in the world but he had a wooden leg. The second shortest person in the world couldn't get as much work as the shortest so he started plotting to get rid of his rival.
In the end he decided to cut the end of the shortest person's wooden leg off. The shortest person realised his wooden leg couldn't shrink and came to the conclusion that he was growing taller. Realising that he would loose the fame and fortune being short had made him he decided to hang himself.
Hence, if he'd seen the sawdust he wouldn't have died!

Hurrah! It's wondeful what insight comes to you while doing the housework!
Here's another one then. A bit silly.
A murder victim is found lying dead on a bed with a pair of scissors on the floor nearby.
The scissors were instrumental in the death but there is no trace of blood, no cuts or bruises on the body.
How did the murder happen?

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Nov 25, 2002
I'm not sure. Something to do with the person drowning in the bed which has been punctured by the scissors, maybe?

Vip Posted Nov 25, 2002
Another possible- maybe the person was attatched to a machine for keeping him alive;.. I don't know, a food tube or something. And they cut the tube. It's not the correct answer though, I know that!

I think it'd be the puncturing of the waterbed with a pair of scissors. Although I've never been in a waterbed that I could have drowned in - I'm too buoyant and the waterbed's too shallow.
Okay. I'm going to assume that was the answer. Got another one for ya - just heard it the other day.
Meet our protagonist. He lives on the tenth floor. Every morning, he rides down the elevator to work, and every evening, he rides the elevator up - but only to the seventh floor. He has to get out and take the stairs, even though he hates stairs. If it's raining, he rides to the tenth.
What's so special about this guy?
(And my apologies in advance. I won't be on line and active when most of you guys are, so if you know this one, like I said, don't blurt it out - help other people along.)

Does his building have three basement leves?

Blue Posted Nov 26, 2002
I know the answer too
In answer to the post above (Re: three basement levels) - It might do - but it is nothing to do with the answer.
