The names you've come up with here are much better than those from the BBC list. LOVE the thought of Ozzy doing it, but I think that would be more than any of us could bear.

My favourite ideas so far are Eddie Izzard, Jack Dee and most favourite of all, my dream host would be Paxman. smiley - smiley

here's another couple of suggestions: Matthew Parris (journalist, has been on a few times) or Mo Mowlam.

Ozzy would be a decent enough guest, but...
Paxman might also be good.
Where's the BBC list?

I'd be happy with any of them except the first one. I doubt John Sergeant will leave ITV for this, though.

I'd heard John Sargent was leaving ITV at the end of the year anyway.

*Rubs hands with glee* He's too good for them anyway. Have you seen their news bulletins?!

No, I tend to watch News 24 or Channel 4 news.

Yes! Will Self !

I doubt if BBC would risk it - even tho he's guested on the show, his drugs escapade on an airplane would prevent him being a 'whiter than white' host.

As we seem to agree that our suggestions here are beter than the ones on the BBC news pages, AND this site is a BBC site AND we know people working there smiley - winkeye is there any chance any of those nice people could give a nudge to the BBC news people and get a link to this discussion - or even broaden the "official" list??

I'm amazed no one has mentioned any of the following;
Anthea Turner
Dale Winton
Matthew Kelly
Kylie
Cilla
or Ant and Dec

Bill Bailey would be good...?

the third man(temporary armistice)n strike)

It all seems a bit ironic that Angus Deayton has been sacked. After all the show is made by Hat Trick and my fellow Scouse and Evertonian Jimmy Mulville is one of their leading lights. He will have a big say in the replacement. Better stop now
